Vehicle Description
Chevrolet has long been considered a 'working man's brand'. The
interesting thing is, despite those humble origins, Chevy
consistently peddles enough content-laden trucks to also be
considered one of the best-selling luxury marques in the world. No
doubt, a big part of the firm's upscale appeal comes from the
Corvette. From 1950s optimism to 21st century moxie, the Chevrolet
Corvette has always represented everything aspirational about the
automotive experience. Of course, another part of that appeal is
the franchise's long history of creating many of the world's most
iconic vehicles. And that unique axiom is exactly where you'll find
this stellar Bel Air custom: self-assuredly rumbling at the
crossroads of timeless style and world-class athleticism. Timeless,
of course, because it's one of the best years of Bel Air that's
been lovingly massaged through a detailed, ground-up restoration.
And a world-class stoplight slayer because, during that
restoration, it was fitted with six liters of fiery Chevy small
block! Ready to see why the bowtie brand is affectionately called
USA-1?
(NOT SO) BASIC APPEAL
The product of a detailed, ground-up restoration that's absolutely
exquisite both inside and out, this bold Bel Air pro-tourer does an
excellent job of wrapping enduring style around modern technology.
An all-American cherry that was ripe for customization, the car was
subjected to a systematic, no-expense-spared build that culminated
in glossy black two-stage. And today, this sweet Chevy prowls the
scene as a lights-out custom that mixes classic good looks with
world-beating performance!
Rolling proof that more doesn't necessarily mean better, this sedan
turns virtually every head it passes by simply doing what it does
best: being one of the finest Bel Airs on the planet. No heavy
add-ons or overwrought fabrication, just classic proportions and
tasteful aesthetics. Up front, a broad bumper traces a clean,
Chevrolet-branded grille, which points halogen headlights between
factory parking lamps and a bold "C H E V R O L E T" header script.
At the sides of that lettering, shaved fenders lead polished bowtie
mirrors, which reflect polished handles, polished fins and polished
quarter spears. A flowing greenhouse wraps polished stainless
around polished wipers. And at the back of the car, a bright
valance centers stylish, Bel Air-exclusive taillights between a
second broad bumper and an ornate trunk emblem.
(NOT SO) FAMILIAR POWER
What good is all that show if you can't back it up with a little
go? Lift this Chevy's long hood and you'll reveal a solid six
liters of proven LS small block that was sourced directly from the
pros at Mast Motorsports! At the top of the cast iron mill, a
remote filter element feeds a muted tube that's married to an
electronic throttle body and a dressed intake. Aluminum, L92-style
heads, likely borrowed from an LS3, tilt custom coil covers over
GM-spec wires and long-tube headers. Charge comes courtesy of a
satin-finish alternator, which joins a satin-finish compressor and
a satin-finish water pump behind a billet serpentine drive. Cooling
is provided by a big aluminum radiator, which is paired with twined
SPAL puller fans. And the car's Satin Black engine bay is decked
with niceties like trick sticks, a billet master cylinder,
strategically bent lines and braided hoses.
(NOT SO) PREDICTABLE RIDE
Not surprisingly, the bottom of this show worthy bowtie continues
the theme of pairing proven hardware with enhanced technology.
Satin floors create a picturesque frame for a full Roadster Shop
perimeter chassis. That chassis is especially appealing, finished
with tubular control arms and adjustable AFCO coil-overs. Behind
the awesome engine, a cooled 4L60 4-speed, sporting a trick pan,
spins a familiar Ford 9-inch. Turns come courtesy of power
rack-and-pinion steering. Speed gets scrubbed by a quartet of
drilled and slotted rotors, which pierce sixth-generation Corvette
calipers. A custom fuel tank supplies a steady stream of 'go
juice'. Coated exhaust feeds throaty MagnaFlow mufflers. And all
that hardware rolls on a sweet set of Schott blades, which spin
245/40ZR19 Michelin Pilot Sports in front of 275/40ZR20 Michelin
Pilot Sports.
(NOT SO) SUBTLE LUXURY
Swivel this classic's doors and you'll find a tasteful custom
cockpit that combines timeless Chevrolet style with premium
touchpoints and modern technology. Big bench seats weave intricate
cloth accents into plush Ultraleather hides. A color-keyed dash
founds glowing Dakota Digital VHX telemetry over billet accessory
knobs and controls for the car's modern air conditioning. A custom
console centers a short Lokar shifter between remote controlled
Sony audio and fade-free carpet. Custom side panels front smooth
power windows. The driver spins a snazzy billet steering wheel
around a tilting column and billet foot pedals. And naturally, the
passengers stow essentials in a custom-upholstered trunk.
Owning a lights-out classic is cool. Owning a lights-out classic
that's been tastefully customized is something few are lucky enough
to experience. Owning a tastefully customized, lights-out classic
that's propelled by one of the hottest powerplants ever created is
the stuff most gearheads dream about. Don't miss your chance to
enjoy this incredible Bel Air!
