Vehicle Description
This 1998 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra is all about being a speedy and
fun pony car. Bright red paint, a sharp-looking loaded interior, a
five-speed stick, and a desirable version of the Modular V8 make
for an awesome driver's modern classic.
This Cobra has just crossed the quarter-century threshold, and so
it's now eligible for vintage registration and/or plates in many
states that offer it. And a pony car done in red deserves to be
treated like a proper classic. We love the sporty look of the right
details, like the coils snake badges, full rear spoiler, and
upgraded lightweight fiberglass hood. This is an actual miles car,
and so you can tell this one was made to be driven. But you can
also see the right reverence in its history. The factory-correct
Laser Red Metallic was resprayed later in life to help keep the
coupe looking radiant. Good lines, clean headlights, bright exhaust
tips, and sharp-looking factory SVT alloys are all part of a
stylish and fun package.
One of the big reasons we like this so much for being a true driver
is because of how inviting the interior is. It's stock, clean, and
quite loaded. The saddle tan leather has a timelessly attractive
look against the bright red exterior, and everything looks
well-respected, including the driver's seat. It's loaded with the
best features like power windows, power steering, power locks,
cruise control, dual airbags, anti-lock brakes, a premium
AM/FM/cassette/CD stereo, and cold air conditioning. The driver's
seat power adjusts to get you ready for hitting the road.
White-faced analog gauges, a Cobra sports steering wheel, and a
well-placed stick shift are all part of the right way to let you
know this is a performance pony car.
Under the hood is the correct 4.6-liter modular V8. It has the
right stock look, including the engine builder's stamp on the valve
cover. On an SVT Cobra this is the performance-oriented DOHC
32-valve unit. That means plenty of low-end power and the kind of
V8 muscle to hustle even at highway speeds. As you look over the
whole car, you can see an investment in care, and there's even a
newer aluminum radiator to help keep this one running cool. The
five-speed manual transmission snaps through the gears easily, and
the SVT upgraded the chassis to make it worthy of the Cobra name.
Helping corral all this Mustang's performance is the power
steering, four-wheel power disc brakes, drilled & slotted rotors,
and performance tires.
