Vehicle Description
Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1973.5 Porsche 911T
sunroof coupe. Finished in the attractive original shade of Sepia
Brown, this is a numbers-matching example with known history to the
late 1970s. Long-term California car and it shows, with excellent
original and rust-free floor pans, front pan, rockers, jack points
and torsion bar areas. Records and photos indicate a glass-out
repaint in 1986 - although single-stage paint would have been more
correct, a base-clear finish was chosen and now the clearcoat is
starting to fail. Trim and glass remain in good original condition.
Fuchs wheels are wearing Vredestein tires with 2022 date codes.
Interior presents very nicely with excellent door panels (the
expandable pockets which are nearly always broken are completely
intact and working), plus nice carpets, seat upholstery, steering
wheel and dash. Original Blaupunkt AM/FM radio. The tan interior is
a welcome departure from the more commonly seen black.
Porsche Certificate of Authenticity confirms original
numbers-matching 2.4-liter flat-six engine and original five-speed
manual transmission. The engine was rebuilt under prior ownership
and upgraded with Carrera timing chain tensioners and a pop-off
valve in the airbox. As a late 1973, this car was the first in a
long line of 911s to be fitted with the CIS fuel injection system
(which it retains). This 911 starts easily and runs and drives well
(power delivery is among the smoothest of any early 911 we've
driven). Clutch and gearbox feel good with no crunchy synchros.
Excellent brake and steering feedback.
Although the paint is showing some patina, this is one of the most
solid, rust-free and unmolested early 911s we've encountered. It
remains presentable enough to enjoy as a driver just as it is, or
would be a great candidate for a quality re-paint to take it to the
next level given how good the bones are. Original owner's manual,
COA and service records are included with the sale. For more
