For Sale: 1951 Chevrolet Fleetline in Austin, Texas

Vehicle Description

1951 Chevrolet Fleetline Deluxe 2-Door Fastback

IN THE HOME STRETCH!  I think I now have a solid offer on this car. I'm holding it for the prospective buyers for the next 30 days -- until 3/5/25 -- at our agreed price. In the meantime, as I've told them, I am accepting BACKUP OFFERS at the BEST PRICE OVER $20,000.  After that, this car is going out to international auction at that amount as a reserve.  So bring it on, cool car lovers!  Before this car leaves to Cuba, the Middle East, or some other sphere.

Let me be clear:  I LOVE this car and really do not want to sell it.  I drive it every couple weeks.  Guaranteed to get more honks, thumb up and shout-outs than you could ever hope for.  You are SOMEBODY when you drive this car. hehe. But it's time.

Same owner the last 35 years in Austin TX; originally a Nashville car.

This car was just repainted in September of last year in its original color with high quality DuPont Urethane. All new exterior photos taken. A further $7K investment by ME,,,at little-to-no extra cost to YOU.

Small block Chevy 350 V8 engine with less than 4,000 miles on it since conversion.

Recently had more work done on it by the mechanics at Mercury Charlie's in Austin so it runs even better than before.

Clean Texas title; 5-year current classic registration through March 2028; vanity Texas plates that say "ROCKIN".

Features:

Automatic transmission; regular column shifter.

Mustang front clip; Corvette rear end.

Nice, clean, tuck and roll custom cloth interior.

Has air conditioning but not very effective above 80 degrees.

Recent new tires, battery, gas tank, water pump, fan, starter. Good brakes. Lights all work.

Custom wheels. The side pipes and spotlights are just decorative.

Clean trunk with an "original era" spare tire and hubcap (cool but no longer fit).

Still have some of the original parts that were removed for changes made (radio, one rear wheel skirt).

Issues: (in full transparency)

Some chrome re-plating would be worthwhile, in particular the rear bumper.

The suspension needs attention (springs, shocks). The ride can be a bit bouncy on uneven pavement.

The tranny has developed a small leak. Watching it and adding fluid periodically.

You might want to add power steering.

Other:

Serious inquiries only please. No lowballs, no trades.

May be viewed and driven in Buda / Austin TX, by appointment, with 2-3 days advance notice.
