The Studebaker Avanti had an interesting history throughout its on-again/off-again production. Studebaker originally released the Avanti to compete with sports cars such as the Chevrolet Corvette, but over-promised and under-delivered on its production numbers. The Avanti was only briefly produced by Studebaker from 1962 to 1964. After which, the Avanti name and tooling were sold to a couple of Studebaker dealers, in 1965, who produced the Avanti in the same facility until 1982. In 1982, the Avanti name and tooling were sold again to Stephen Blake, who produced the Avanti until 1985. This Avanti is a nice, unmodified, driver quality example of the 200 Blake Avanti's built for the 1984. This Avanti presents in overall nice condition with the repainted Champagne Metallic showing some age throughout. The very original fiberglass body is in excellent condition free of any dents or cracks. The Champagne exterior is complimented nicely by its original stainless trim and factory chrome wire wheels wrapped in new Mastercraft Avenger GT raised white letter tires. The Bisque leather interior appears to be all original and in above average condition for the age. Powering this great Avanti is its 305 cubic inch V8 backed by its 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission. Both the engine and transmission perform just as they should. This Avanti is very well equipped with factory options such as: power steering, power front disc brakes, air conditioning, heater/defrost, cruise control (in-op), tinted glass, in-dash tachometer, power windows, power door locks, power moonroof, AM/FM radio, power driver side mirror, remote trunk release, and intermittent wipers.
