Vehicle Description
1998 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe
Corvette didn't always call Kentucky home, however, in 1953 the
first 300 were built by hand in Flint, Michigan, just after General
Motors unveiled the Corvette as a "dream car" in the Motorama show
in New York's Waldorf Astoria hotel. The following year, production
moved to St. Louis. In June of 1981, Corvette production
transferred from St. Louis to Bowling Green, Kentucky. GM began
production of the esteemed Corvette in Bowling Green in 1981, and
the facility has remained the exclusive home of the Corvette for
over 30 years. Known around the world as America's sports car, the
Corvette exemplifies the definition of innovation.
For consignment, a Corvette coupe and with over 55 models
representing nearly every year, this is only the second model
presently in house from 1998! A tastefully modified car, played
with, then neatly put away in a heated garage for the next time, we
now have a low, low mileage, (14,353 confirmed), car that has led a
good life, and is now offered for another's enjoyment.
Exterior
Near perfect Nassau Blue fiberglass, 1 of 1,098 built in this hue,
is draped over the high performance chassis of this car. Upgraded
headlight bezels from a later model C5 wrap the hidden headlights,
and integrated bumpers provide the aero package that can whisk you
down the highway with just a touch of the throttle. A glass see
through roofand large greenhouse, (it's a gas!), rear glass are
seen for the roofline. This style Corvette wins the award for best
rear styling with the round embedded tail lights and the quad
exhaust piercing out the center of the integrated rear bumper.
Chrome C6 style 17-inch multi-spoke polished wheels are upfront and
18" in the rear still wearing the factory installed tires.
Interior
Sporty black leather buckets grab you as you take a seat inside the
cockpit. Black door panel uppers, with nearly every power control
one could, want border these buckets. A black lower molded plastic
with a large built in Bose speaker is under the curved pull
handle/power toggle panel on each door. The leather for seats is in
very good condition with a few wrinkles and areas of wear, but far
from terrible. An upgraded AM/FM/CD stereo with the original
cassette stereo included, along with cruise control, a 6-way power
driver's seat, a leather wrapped tilt steering wheel all wrapped up
in a curved dash that presents very cleanly. Black carpet floods
the floors and is in very nice condition. An oversized glove box is
conveniently located just behind the shift lever.
Drivetrain
A well manicured 345hp 5.7Liter LS1 V8 is seen with a front flip of
the hood. This has EFI and a Buckwing Performance air filter, and a
4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission attached. The Performance Axle
Ratio 3.15limited slip rear axle configuration is on to handle the
power this active mill produces.
Undercarriage
Extremely clean sums it up underneath, looking very close to
showroom with a touch of patina from just plain old enjoying this
fine sports car. C5 suspension with a 1.5-inch lowering kit is seen
both front and back as are 4-wheel power disc brakes. Chrome
exhaust tips are also noted attached to the SLP Loudmouth cat-back
exhaust that is fed from a Borla X-pipe.
Drive-Ability
An extremely quick starter, and runner. This LS1 V8 can push this
car very quickly up to speed, and due to the comfortable interior,
it is hard to tell exactly how fast you are really traveling.
Overall a good driving experience, and smooth shifting for the
automatic. All the power options are functional, and the stereo
sounds fab!
ONLY the second 1998 Corvette currently in inventory, and this one
is well cared for, has super low original miles put on. This was
played with then nicely put away in a temp controlled garage, well
maintained, and is just a fun car to drive. Nothing like being low
to the ground and taking a corner like it is not even
there...Wild!
