1985 Toyota Celica Supra
This is a three owner car that came into the states via the Newark ports and never ventured very far from there.
It was purchased brand new in 85 from Laurel Auto Park Jaguar-Toyota in Laurel, MD. and stayed in Laurel with the first owner until around 2004. It move less than an hour south to Waldorf where it spent the next 15 years with a Toyota enthusiast.
In 2019 it came north to CT to her current owner, who had one when she was in high school.
Before coming north, the previous owner reportedly had the timing belt done 20,000 miles ago, new brakes, all fluids changed, new PS steering pump, alternator, and clutch master and slave replaced.
She starts easily, runs great, pulls strong and shifts through all 5 speeds very nicely. With only 140,000 miles, as a Toyota, that's just getting broken in. There is an unidentified small oil leak, that drips down onto the front sway bar and is tossed about by air movement from the fan and just driving.
From the factory this Supra came loaded. Under the hood is the 160 HP, 169 lb ft inline 6 cylinder (5M-GE) with Toyota fuel injection. It's mated to a 5 speed manual (W58) and routed out to a Toyota rear with 4:30 gears and a limited slip.
It has fog lights front and rear, a front chin spoiler and the Supra's signature dual rear spoilers, one over the hatchback and the other at the base of the hatchback. The color matched 14x7 aluminum wheels are wrapped in 4 year old Cooper Cobra Radials in 235/R60 size.
Inside this P type Supra rec'd the leather sport seats that really wrap around you and have fully adjustable bolsters, air lumbar support (driver side only), adjustable leg support, up/down and back/forth adjustments - these are all manual.
AC (which has been charged and fitted with R134 and blows cold), PS, PB (discs all around), PW, PM, tilt wheel, cruise control, the AM/FM/Cassette is in place but is currently overridden by a blue tooth set up. It also has a USB hook up. Sunroof, intermittent wipers, rear wiper and defrost, drop down rear seats and cargo cover.
Everything works as it should.
Most of the interior is in very good condition, the driver seat could use some love in the form of Color+Plus treatment including crack sealer and then a re-dye. You might as well do the passenger seat too so they match.
Back to the outside and the paint, where we find her weakest link. The hood and roof are both faded (although, a good color correction might bring it back) and there is a distinct clear coat failure on the left C pillar. From the belt line down, everything looks pretty darn good for a near 40 year old car. Where the lower molding attaches there are two areas of rust (not rot, yet) at the rearward point of each side and there is also a bit of rot on the right rear lowest rocker. The car comes with a second set of moldings and a 1/4 of the quarter panel to cut and trim exactly what you'll need to repair the rot. The great part is that it is painted in a textured flat black, so no need to paint the entire car to fix this little bit.
The overall on this car:
Very good, condition, very drivable. Runs strong, very comfortable, iconic 80's looks, will collect a crowd at most cruise nights.
Some faded paint, a little rust, minor oil leak, and some seats that need TLC are the down sides.
The car does come with a new Cruise Control switch, the aforementioned quarter panel piece, several replacement moldings, a set of custom fit Wet Okolie seat covers, and dealer optioned floor mats with embroidered Supra logo.
The asking price on her is $11,500
