2 owner, 27K mile, 1981 Datsun 280ZX
This car was purchased brand new in 1981 from Lithia Datsun in Medford, OR by the Anderson family.
They drove it as a fair weather car up into the late 90's, when Mr. Anderson passed away.
Mrs. Anderson kept the car registered and insured and in the garage until she passed away in 2018, probably not ever driving her in those 20 some odd years. When she passed away, the attorney sold the car to a small dealership who then sold her back to Lithia (now Nissan) who was going to use her as a display car in their dealership but decided to recommission her and put her out for sale just to see how it would go. (dealerships are not considered owners in the ownership chain)
They were answered rather quickly by the current owner who fell in love and snatched her up.
What's not to love about a copper 280, with 80's gold trim, 5 speed manual transmission, A/C (which blows cold!), power steering, cruise control, power disc brakes at all four corners, manually adjusted seats up/down-back/forth and lumbar support; power mirrors, intermittent wipers and power windows. It also has a full gauge package, tach, oil pressure, water temp, and volts/ammeter, of course speedo and some of the first computer self diagnostics.
It has an LCD AM/FM/Cassette stereo that works very well and a dealer installed Cobra hand held CB, very popular in the day.
Everything works, except the CB which has no power, so it may not be even currently hooked up.
The current owner had them go through the car and fix anything mechanical. It needed a couple of injectors and a fuel filter.
The car was shipped back east here to CT where the current owner put less than 4000 miles on her in the last 4 years.
The car has been serviced at Grossman Nissan and Cardone and Daughter and starts, runs and drives like a brand new car.
The paint has had just a couple little chips touched up and it shines like new as well.
Under the hood is clean and again like new, well, because this car only has 27,000 miles on it.
The Dunlop Sport A2 tires are sized at 195/70/R14 and but no DOT dates were visible. This is a newer design so they shouldn't be that old and are in very good condition. Actual age though is unknown.
The interior is pretty much as good as the rest of the car, it only has a couple of issues. The "brushed aluminum" trim around the radio has some odd black dots on it that do not come off, it may be some off wear from sitting in the garage? Also, the vinyl that wraps from the rear left shock tower to under the lift gate has separated in the corner. Other than that, the interior is near perfect.
What you're getting is a practically new car, that was built in 1981. She looks awesome, drives and handles awesome and just feels awesome to be in. The 2.8L inline 6 pulls very nicely through each gear despite putting out roughly
This will bring you back to the discos and excesses of the late 70's, early 80's.
Boogie Down Baby!
Japanese cars are starting to gain a lot of momentum in the enthusiast market and with the low number of owners and very low miles, this car is valued at $24,900.
