Vehicle Description
1979 Chevrolet K-10 Pickup
The model year 1960 brought the Chevrolet pickup into the modern
era with its C/K series lineup. The "C" designation identified
two-wheel-drive pickups, and the "K" identified 4X4s. The most
common pickup was the C10, a half-ton truck with a 6.5- or 8-foot
cargo box. cThe C/K series trucks remained essentially the same
vehicle during a series of conservative redesigns, until 1997, when
the 1998 Silverado replaced it.
For consignment, a very well done restoration, the beneficiary of a
body off frame process. The engine remains original and was not
rebuilt at the time and runs fine. It sports an all new interior,
and new wood bed. The color is just stunning and is a base coat and
clear coat process. A short bed, step side 4x4 lifted beauty with
the classic look.

Exterior
Totally rust free steel is fabricated over the frame with an egg
crate chromed grille leading the way. Within this frame are a
single round headlight on either corner and a shiny bumper is
below. The hood sports a rear facing scoop with some nicely shaped
front quarters bumped out just a bit for the larger tires and
wheels. The cab is straight and true, minding its gaps nicely with
chromed mirrors hanging off of either side and all tinted glass. A
visor is attached to the front of the roofline. On the back framing
the bed with its curled over edges are a small step and bumped out
fender leaving the bed for full storage. Speaking of which is now
relined with nearly perfect fir boards and steel chromed dividers.
The paint has been expertly applied and presents in light emerald
green metallic. You could say the luck of the Irish and some hand
painted accenting pin striping and flourishes throughout in yellow
and red are seen accenting the green. A snarling Woody Woodpecker
is on the gas cap on the driver's rear fender. The back has a hand
painted CHEVROLET badge in the tailgate in yellow and red. Dual
exhaust peek out of the rear which has been shaved of the rear
bumper. Deep chromed dish aluminum slot wheels are wrapped by
31x10.50R15LT Cooper Discoverer STT knobby tires all around. Some
diamond plate chromed mud guards protect the fenders from these
wide mudders.
Interior
A swing of the metallic green painted chromed mirrored doors
reveals more green/blue door panels molded in and all in excellent
like new condition. Inside I slip on to a full bench with green
tuck and roll tweed inserts and black vinyl smooth bolsters. Black
piping delineates these surfaces and are like new. A rally steering
wheel fronts the brushed aluminum wrap around square and rectangle
dash which also appears as new. All gauges are in with the extra
gauge package to keep eyes in the pulse of this truck's
mechanicals. A large green padded vinyl dash top is crack free and
nice and shiny. Down low the floors are covered with clean and
green carpeting and the headliner is satin black painted steel, also
in perfect condition. An AM/FM radio from the factory is also
mounted into this dash.
Drivetrain
As the consignor states the engine was not rebuilt during the
restoration but has been highly detailed. It has a GM orange/red
painted block, and black painted snoot style air cleaner covering on
top. It is a factory 350ci V8, a 4-barrel carburetor and a TH350
3-speed automatic on the back. There is a 12 bolt rear axle and a
10 bolt front axle for the 4x4. Headers and a Flowmaster mufflers
are like new and now installed. The engine also has a new timing
chain, has new seals and a new oil and water pump.
Undercarriage
As expected with a frame off restoration we are treated to no rust,
just solid black painted steel. Black painted suspension which has
leaf springs all around and solid braking which is power discs for
the front and power drums for the rear. No catalytic converters are
seen on this undercarriage.
Drive-Ability
She fired right up and this green meanie had plenty of power with
the V8 and 4-barrel carb. It shifted smoothly and had solid bias
free braking. I noticed the motor smokes just a little and our
consignor states that when the truck sits for a while the trans has
a slight leak. All else is functioning just swell.
A nice restoration for this beauty with its excellent light green
metallic coating, like new interior, (because it is!), and fine
running and detailed engine and bay. Quite the looker and performer
right out of 1979 which was a very good year.
