Vehicle Description
1955 was a good year for automotive manufacturing here in the US
and Pontiac a division of GM was no exception. The Star Chief was
marketed between 1954 and 1966 and was Pontiacs top trim package at
the time. The second generation cars from GM were all the tri-fives
from 1955, 56 and 57. in 1955, just over 200,000 were produced and
featured a 287 V8 and would feature the recognizable stars on the
side and the amber plastic Indian hood ornament that would light up
when the headlights were on.
This particular really awesome driver that was driven here over an
hour and a half has had some drivability upgrades. It has a newer
400-2 barrel carb engine out of a GTO including transmission that
now included a "park". It also has upgraded front disc brakes, a
auxiliary electric fan and re-cored radiator. The body and paint
work was done about thirty years ago and is in good condition. The
paint is dulling in spots but no corrosion. The chrome is good and
the trim is good, It does have a couple spots on the britework that
have some pitting. I consider this an excellent driver. The
interior is super nice and clean and the A/C system works well. All
the gauges and glass are good and operational. The car starts,
idles, and goes down the road very nicely with plenty of cruising
power. It also brakes very well. Let us know if you have any
further questions.
