Vehicle Description
Over the past few years, we've certainly seen some choice
resto-mods. But this slick Impala, wrapping a hot Chevrolet
Performance small block in timeless, all-American aesthetics, is
definitely one of the coolest! Fully sorted and ready to hit the
road, this awesome Chevy combines solid horsepower with tailored
yet aggressive swagger. And today, thanks to meticulous
restoration, not only is it a sweet place to cruise the streets,
it's also an instantly recognizable classic that can easily rule
the front row. Looking for a dreamy collector car that simply has
it all? This awesome coupe checks every box!
FINS AND FLASH
The product of a frame-off rotisserie restoration that mixes
massive show with massive go, this exquisite Impala resto-mod is a
delightfully custom take on classic Americana. Epic reflections
manifest through super straight metal that wears a super glossy
coat of vivid red two-stage. And today, this grand Chevy prowls the
pavement as pretty much the ultimate expression of sophisticated
street rod style!
A sculpted testament to why, in the eyes of the enlightened, autos
will always be considered art, this hardtop is one of the best
looking cars to ever roll out of General Motors Design's Warren
Technical Center. At the front of the car, a broad stainless grille
hangs old school halogen headlights between a guarded bumper,
pointed parking lamps and tastefully modified hood scoops. That
hood, relieved of its factory insignia, leads a tinted 'bubble top'
greenhouse, which bends flashy trim between polished wipers,
factory door handles and a bowtie-branded mirror. That mirror
reflects jet-inspired profile spears, which fly ornate Impala
branding under polished fins and massaged fenders. And opposite
those fenders, a second broad bumper shades a one-piece valance
under an ornate trunk crest and traditional, 1959-exclusive
taillights.
POWER AND PRESTIGE
There's just nothing better than an old school V8! Tilt this
Chevy's hood and you'll find 350 cubic inches of proven Chevrolet
crate engine that sounds almost as good as it runs! At the top of
that muted mill, a traditional dual-snorkel air cleaner jambs wind
into a bright Edelbrock 4-barrel. That carb, sequenced to an
electric choke, feeds a Satin Black Edelbrock intake. That intake
feeds tough, cast iron cylinder heads, which stack billet breathers
and stylish, Chevrolet-themed valve covers on coated block hugger
headers. A hot HEI distributor sparks loomed MSD Street Fire Wires.
A color-keyed CVF serpentine drive spins an aluminum water pump
between a muted alternator, a muted AC compressor and a modern
power steering pump. Speaking of water, a traditional-style
radiator circulates coolant between a Mishimoto overflow, a muted
cap and big electric puller fans. And overall, the Jet Black beast
looks great rumbling in a glossy red engine bay that's detailed
with quality items like Lokar sticks, a Wilwood master cylinder and
a built in battery tender.
LONG AND LOW
Not surprisingly, the bottom of this show worthy bowtie continues
the theme of pairing proven hardware with enhanced technology.
Brilliant red floors create a picturesque backdrop for a Satin
Black rendition of GM's legendary X-frame chassis. That chassis
gets pushed by a factory rear-clip that's finished with crisp QA-1
shocks. Opposite that clip, a factory front-half cages adjustable
QA-1 coil-overs between tubular control arms. The proven engine
leads a smooth 700R4 4-speed, which spins a factory Dropout axle.
Turns come courtesy of close-ratio power steering. Speed gets
scrubbed by a quartet of drilled and slotted rotors, which align
colored-keyed The Right Stuff Detailing calipers with color-keyed
Wilwood calipers. Aluminized exhaust feeds throaty turbo mufflers.
And all that hardware rolls on a sweet set of Intro blades, which
spin 225/45ZR19 Lexani LX-Twentys in front of 275/40R20 Lexani
LX-Twentys.
CLEAN AND CLASSY
Between the doors, a thoughtfully restored cockpit is built around
virtual acres of chrome-piped vinyl that's pieced by stylish
swatches of multi-color cloth. Those mile-wide thrones ride clean
carpet, which centers a tasteful Lokar shifter between variegated
side panels. A streamlined dash props rebuilt factory telemetry
next to a direct-fit radio and hardware for Vintage Air
conditioning. The driver spins a modern billet steering wheel
around a tilting Ididit column. And the passengers store essentials
in a custom-upholstered trunk.
When it comes to maximizing the amount of metal your money buys,
you simply can't go wrong with a timeless Chevy custom. Thanks to
its exceptional attention to detail, this top dog coupe is a great
driving piece that's fun, stylish AND unique. Looking for an
awesome classic that commands respect on both the boulevard and the
show field? This incredible Impala is just your style!
