Vehicle Description
Powerful pony cars with bold looks are always in style. But with a
fuel-injected V8, a five-speed stick, and an upgraded sports
suspension all wrapped in the classic fastback style, this 1969
Ford Mustang Fastback Restomod is a truly unique and powerful
machine.
There is a cool attitude to this car. The consignor purchased it 18
years ago, and it has been a passion project of restoration. You'll
see most of the evidence of that beneath the skin, and in fact, the
interior is charmingly original. But the exterior also sets the
right tone for a Mustang with more gallop. The Candy Apple Red
paint looks like it was one of the first upgrades to this car. It
has a nice metallic glow that lets the sunlight show off the good
sheet metal and smooth fastback lines. There's plenty of dark side
against the red with the large chin spoiler, blackout hood,
upgraded wheels, tinted glass, and rear spoiler all done in black.
There's also plenty of style within the black attitude. You see it
in details like the pinstripe around the dark hood insert, and the
way the 17-inch alloys are painted makes it look like it has racing
knock-off hubs. The billet grille, hood pins, dual exhaust tips,
and scoops on both the hood and rear fenders are all part of this
power pony attitude, too. So the overall impression is a car that
was built for driving.
The red interior has a distinct style with many of the main pieces
relatively intact. There is a worn-in originality that is
interesting to look at. This may even bring back some memories for
those who were given a sibling's old Mustang to drive in high
school. There are even home speaker boxes on the back seat. For the
rest of us, this is an opportunity to get the best suited to your
tastes by using the ample aftermarket. And as you take a look at
the full package, you'll realize it's already quite ready to engage
the driver. You have a wood-rimmed sports steering wheel on a tilt
column, a Hurst shifter, and a full set of Haneline white-faced
gauges. Plus, the center console now houses everything from your
fuel pump switch to the EFI controller.
Under the hood is where you start to see where two decades of work
was really worth it. This is a 390 cubic-inch V8 that was rebuilt
for power, including Edelbrock aluminum heads, an Edelbrock intake,
and an upgraded cam. The Holley Sniper electronic fuel injection
system lets this inhale with the best of modern motors, and the
long tube headers let this exhale with proper classic muscle car
prowess. And as you look through the engine bay you see a
thoughtful and robust setup. It includes a March pulley system, an
Edelbrock water pump, and a Tri-Flo aluminum radiator with electric
fans. The dual batteries were even mounted in the trunk for better
weight distribution. You get to harness the enhanced powerhouse
with an upgrade to a Tremec five-speed manual transmission with a
large hydraulic clutch. This feeds into a limited-slip rear with
strong Strange Engineering gears for powerful and confident
take-offs. Confidence is a key part of this car's setup with an
upgraded Total Control Products front end, subframe connectors, and
a four-link rear with adjustable coilovers. There are also power
brakes, front discs, grippy modern tires, and rack & pinion power
steering.
The sale comes complete with the owner's manual, service manuals,
and build receipts. This is a passion project that has created a
terrific driving classic Mustang. And you still even have your
opportunity to put your personal stamp on this pony car. So if
