Vehicle Description
This 1967 Volkswagen Type 2 has the cool look of a first-gen Bus,
an even cooler custom interior, and a hot Porsche motor. It's all
part of a professional build that happened during long-term
ownership. So as you look through the details you are going to find
the right quality and thoughtfulness to be a true distinct
driver.
These first-gen Type 2s really gave us something special. The
curved front end, pop-out dual windshield, and artistic wraparound
body crease that comes to a powerful point right at the front
center. So these are true classics with truly classic style. But
the reason why you love this one is not that it's a great vintage
machine, but instead, it's unmistakably a custom cruiser. Black and
gold is a timeless color combo and the glossy duo highlights all
those awesome lines that were just mentioned. Black bumpers,
deleted trim, and quad exhaust tips give this plenty of attitude
even before you notice the lowered stance. And we love the look of
the classic EMPI-style gas burner wheels with the black center and
Porsche caps that hint at what's really powering this van.
The interior shows off more of this thoughtful and well-planned
style. After all, the gold streak sewn into the custom black side
panels mimics the exterior color theme. And we love the premium
look of the seats with a diamond stitch pattern and gold piping.
The front has comfy carpeting like you want in a van, but the rear
floor is done in vinyl flooring like a modern living room. In fact,
those facing rear seats make this VW quite sociable. So what we
like best about the interior is the way it was made to be quite
useful. There are the classic pieces like the large opening from
the double doors and how all those windows let in a ton of light.
Plus there are the right modern upgrades like an AM/FM stereo with
Bluetooth and provisions for air conditioning (it will need
servicing.) The driver is even upgraded with a sports steering
wheel on a tilt column - a rarely-seen but quite welcomed feature
on these upright Type 2s.
The rear has the expected air-cooled flat-four. But what's
different here is that we're told this is a 1776cc Porsche
powerhouse. It's a dual-carb set up that delivers extra power while
still retaining the spirit and resilience of the Beetle motor. The
motor fires up easily, runs nicely, and the four-speed shifts
smoothly. So it makes for an eager driver. As you look underneath,
you'll see a clean style with upgrades like Wagons West front end
and a reinforced frame plate to make this feel more confident on
the road. And with the lowered suspension, electric power steering,
wide modern tires, and upgraded four-wheel disc brakes, this is
much more of a driver's Bus than you have ever likely experienced
before.
This is a cool custom Type 2 with a driver-ready style and
driver-ready features. So if you're looking for one of the coolest
driver classics around, it will be hard to beat this custom VW Bus.
