Vehicle Description
In the 1980s Choo-Choo Customs did exactly what we all wished the
factory would have. They utilized the Monte Carlo SS front end on
the El Camino. Now this 1984 Chevrolet El Camino SS is an
affordable example of a factory-backed custom build that delivers
terrific features like a loaded A/C interior, an upgraded overdrive
transmission, and extra fuel-injected V8 power.
There's a pretty good reason why you might not have heard about a
Choo-Choo Customs El Camino SS. They were rare. It's believed there
were less than 5,000 produced over a five-year period. But more
than just rarity, the cool factor on this is elevated because it's
a GM-backed custom build. We all think utilizing the
NASCAR-inspired aerodynamics of the Monte Carlo SS would be a
no-brainer on the similar El Camino, but instead, Chevy sent
production to be hand completed at Choo-Choo's facility before
being sold through GM's dealers. The Choo-Choo Customs El Camino SS
package included the aerodynamic front, special Designer Series
door handle inserts, and a power bulge hood. But even if you didn't
know how special this vehicle was, you'd find it quite attractive.
The burgundy and silver two-tone is a later respray that has the
right mix where there's a nice gloss to show off one of the
sleekest generations of El Caminos, but there are the right hints
of age to make sure you're not nervous driving it. Plus, the bed
liner paint and bright bed rails add both utility and style to this
pickup. Add in 15-inch American Racing Torq Thrust wheels, and you
have a classic that looks far more substantial than its affordable
price.
The interior is a nice mix of premium and sporty. It starts with
seats finished in a plush velour. There's also air conditioning, a
folding armrest, plenty of wood-like trim, power windows, and a
sunroof. The whole interior has the look and feel of a proper
cruiser, and so it's also nice that you can upgrade your driving
music with an AM/FM stereo featuring Bluetooth.
Under the hood is a nice surprise. The El Camino SS was a
V8-powered machine, but this one takes it to the next level. This
5.7-liter powerhouse is larger than what you got in 1984, and the
TPI fuel injection is a system that was in the best Camaros and
Corvettes of the late 1980 and early 1990s. It's sort of like it
has the right heart had the El Camino been allowed to live a little
longer. Not only was the motor upgraded, but you also now have a
four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. So this feels
like a great classic for trips near or far. Power steering, power
brakes, front discs, and wide Cooper Cobras tires complete this
solid driver's package.
The sale comes complete with maintenance records and the owner's
manual. This distinct Choo-Choo El Camino is exactly what you're
looking for when you want to stand out. And this one does it with
better comfort and power. That's why we know it won't stay here
long at this price. Call today!!!
