Vehicle Description
1959 Chrysler Lebaron Imperial 4 Door Hardtop, Long before George
Costanza bought his Chrysler Lebaron on Seinfeld. The Lebaron was
born. We are extra proud to offer this Rare made only from 1957 -
1959 Lebaron. As an industry first, she has curved side-glass
rather than straight, and a compound curve single piece very large
windshield. All the glass was developed by engineer Les Parr.
Another 1st these cars were entirely different from lesser
Chryslers, thus requiring a separate body, assembly, body trim and
paint line at the Kercheval Body and Jefferson Assembly plants in
Detroit. Among the firsts mentioned above the car was the in-thing,
large fins graced the tops of the rear quarters, the trunk decklid
slide gracefully down to a massive rear bumper and the deck lid
also included a stamped spare tire impression complete with wheel
cover. A massive, powerful Chrysler "Hemi" was bored and stroked
out to 392 cubic inches, capable of producing 325 horsepower and
huge amount of torque to propel the just shy of 5,000-pound car to
60 mph in under 9.5 seconds and the quarter mile in just 17 seconds
at over 80 mph. The car features the most advanced suspension in
the industry, due to torsion bars in front and a Hotchkiss drive
with semi-elliptic springs in the back. In between the famous
Torque flight three-speed automatic transmission that debuted late
in 1956. Chrysler's own power steering system and Airtemp air
conditioning systems were standard and optional, respectively. The
new 57' Chrysler's was ready to compete head to head against
Cadillac. Quad headlamps were standard, the front bumper was
massive but simplified, the grille redone for a more classy lighter
look. 5 vertical spears crossed a massive horizontal wedge of
chrome creating a completely new & unique look. Custom and top-end
Lebaron cars received the all-new big-block 413 cubic inch "Wedge"
V-8 churning out 350 hp. It was the last hurrah for the early Hemi.
