What a find! GR Auto Gallery is thrilled to bring to
market, this lovely, well documented, 1937 MG TA
Roadster. The TA was first of MG's famous T-Series
sprots car. The prewar TA firmly established the stylish
look of the British sports car with its tall, square radiator,
wire wheels, low slung doors, folding windscreen and
rear mounted spare tire and slab fuel tank. This classic
design would influence the design of competing marques
and carry MG through nearly the next 20 years.
The 1937 TA Roadster offered here is a wonderful
example finished in Regency Red over burgundy leather
interior. It is powered by its spunky 1.3 liter 4 cylinder
engine fed by twin SU carbs, 4 speed manual
transmission and rear wheel drive. Highlights include:
Wire wheels, full size spare, original gauges, working
Trafficators, 4 spoke banjo wheel, fold down windscreen
with additional Aero Screens, badge bar, luggage carrier,
soft top with side curtains, tonneau, original hand crank,
factory tools, fuel stick, extra spark plugs, etc.
Mechanically, the car runs like a top. It starts easily with
no smoke and settles into a nice idle. The car pulls strong
in all gears, shifts smooth, steers well and stops straight.
It delivers the iconic British open air driving experience.
Records indicate that the car went through a mechanical
and cosmetic refurbishment most recently in 1985. It was
imported to the US in 1987 and since has had 3 owner
enthusiasts who preserved the integrity of the car as well
as mechanical fitness.
The car has big binder of documenting its history all the
way back to 1960 to include ownership history, service
records, its vehicle registration book, written
correspondence with vendors, mechanics, etc....,
refurbishment records etc. Also included is a shop
manual and original parts book. The car is also
documented in the T Registry.
2780 MG TA Roadsters were produced between 1936
and 1938. These cars are a rare find, an fine example
with such rich history is appealing to all automotive
