This beautiful, original, non restored, Rare L30/M20 optioned RS Camaro is being offered for sale. Just over 10,000 produced in 67 and 68, the only two years the L30's were offered. Nicknamed "The Original Sleeper."
It was ordered from Ed Newman Chevrolet in Allentown, Pa on March 26, 1968 as indicated by the retained original Order Sheet. Maintenance records indicate the original owner owned the car until the mid 1980’s and put a little over 52,000 miles. The car was driven another 4,000 miles and then stored for over twenty years resurfacing with 56,137 miles in 2006. It now has 58,660.
The L30 327 CID/275HP is matching numbers with mostly original components such as intake, fan, starter, radiator, air cleaner and etc.
The four speed transmission also has correct date code and casting number. 12 bolt posi traction “BR” 3:07 rear, date code 0523G is correct as well.
Power steering was not ordered initially but was dealer installed at a latter date.
The exterior is R2 code Matador Red with D 91 accent stripes and a black vinyl top. The car has had one repaint back to original color.
Interior was ordered with code 749, black houndstooth custom deluxe and it is still gorgeous. Seats appear to have been recovered at some point.
The no rust body is laser straight with excellent alignment. Moldings and chrome show very well. Quarter panels have proper stampings and floor/trunk pans are in great shape. Even the original weatherstripping, hood insulation, trunk oil padding, red line spare tire and dated coded jack remain.
Was ordered with wheel covers but now has correct rally wheels with “derby” caps.
This car has never been taken apart but rather cosmetically detailed.
The car drives and performs as good as it looks and was just serviced.
Not sure if this Camaro would be classified as a Barn Find, a Survivor, or just a beautiful original, rare L30/M20, Rally Sport. Regardless, it is an unbelievable find!!!
