Mercedes – more than a badge
The Mercedes 500 SL. The ‘sport-light’ class. A recognisable sports model from one of the most iconic German brands in existence. The R129 was already the fourth generation of the SL-Class. This is still a car from the time when cars were invented without the idea of earning money on dealer repairs. A luxurious interior without concessions. 322HP 5-litre 8-cylinder, a great atmospheric block that roars like a gorilla but floats like a condor. The recognisable iconic lines of the SL-Class and its ‘Sacco-Bretter’ protective covers.
The hallmark of this convertible was ‘making the top a priority’. A soft top and hard top that closed in German, no question about it. Wonderful as ‘das Beste oder nichts’ can be experienced.
This Mercedes 500 SL was born in 1990 and has suffered very little since then. The car has only covered 73,000 kilometres, which for a V8 is of course warming up. This is the Modellpflege 1, or in other words before the facelift, which can already be called an absolute classic. With the silver on black colour combination, it is a wonderful classic appearance. A top investment, and with this mileage you won’t find them quickly anymore. A dealer-maintained Mercedes that is already a classic.
To be driven as a classic or of course as a youngtimer. Almost the end of the year, time to get those books in order.
