Vehicle Description
This 1973 Ford F-100 Ranger has a clean style, cool colors, V8
power, and nice features. So it's an attractive classic even if you
didn't know part of its barn find story.
We tend to get attached to the right trucks, and this one is a
great reminder. We're told this was hidden away for nearly 15 years
after the owner passed and his wife stored the truck. So it's a bit
of a barn find story, but you can also tell it was not just left in
some shed. He was a long-term owner who respected his truck, and so
the wife kept that tradition. You can tell by the way the black
paint still has a good shine, the chrome bumpers have a nice shine,
and the premium Ranger trim looks clean and complete hanging on
this good sheet metal. Overall, it's attractive but far from
perfect, which is what makes it so cool. After all, you get a
good-looking glossy pickup that also has the right look that makes
it easy to play show-and-tell with its history.
The interior has the true classic truck feel with a well-worn
dual-spoke steering wheel, rugged vinyl floor, and a bright/airy
single cab. There are nice updates like a bold red bench seat with
comfy cloth inserts, and the headliner was redone to match. This is
also set up for air conditioning, including a newer compressor, but
it will need servicing to function again.
Under the hood is a later upgrade to a 302 cubic-inch V8. The clean
style proves the truck was resurrected correctly from its
multi-year slumber, and the investments prove this, too. It was
thoroughly inspected and given items like a newer fuel filter, fuel
lines, hoses, and a battery. Plus, it was topped with a Brawler
four-barrel carburetor. The V8 fires up eagerly, and the tune of
the dual exhaust lets you know this motor has a nice cam in it. And
it's a solid driver with the three-speed automatic transmission,
power steering, updated power brakes with front discs, and newer
General Grabber tires.
This is a cool classic with a great story. So you know it makes for
the kind of pickup you want to add your own chapter to its history.
