1985 Volkswagen Transporter
This 1985 Volkswagen DoppelKabine (Double Cab or Doka) Transporter,
finished in blue metallic over a blue/black interior, represents
the third generation (T3) of the VW Transporter model.
Single-family owned for the past 17 years, this Southern California
Doka has been regularly serviced by Newport Motorsports, Costa
Mesa, California, since 2021. Prior service (2014) by Mesa West
German Auto Center, Costa Mesa, California included the replacement
of the clutch disc, pressure plate, throughout bearing, engine
flywheel seal, axle seals, and hard and soft hydraulic clutch
lines. In 2016, Mesa West replaced the water pipe gasket and
restored the rear brakes with hoses and hard lines.
Its brilliant blue exterior is complemented by Michelin tires
mounted on eight-hole, five-lug alloy wheels, round, chrome-rimmed
headlights, black painted bumpers and trim, fold-down, side/rear
panels, and pass-through storage compartment under the bed. The bed
has been treated with Rhino Lining spray protective coating.
The double cab interior features a black vinyl front split bench
seats, a whimsical flowered seat covers for front and rear seats as
seen in the second-row bench seat, floor-mounted manual 4-speed
shifter, and JVC AM/FM/CD radio.
The rear placement of the engine and associated components allows
easy accessibility through a panel at the rear of the truck bed,
and fold-down side panels adjacent to the rear wheels.
