1965 Pontiac Red GTO
Car History
The Pontiac GTO is an automobile that was built by American company
Pontiac in generations from 1964 to 1974 model years.
The first generation GTO was a muscle car of the 1960s and 1970s
era, the Pontiac GTO is considered by some to have started the
trend with all four domestic automakers offering a variety of
competing models.
For many, the 1965 GTO, like the PHS documented "real" restored one
we have here at Adventure Classics, is the collectors choice and
the one to have.
In 1965 the GTO was an optional package on the intermediate-sized
Pontiac (VIN 237) but PHS shows it had the "382" code that shows it
was a GTO from the factory.
Ours is painted in red, has a 389 4-barrel engine, and fitted with
many factory features including console, bucket seats, dual
exhaust, 4-speed transmission, and much more.
Engine & Drivetrain
The 389 in ours looks period correct with the aqua blue Pontiac
paint on the engine block intake, and heads, aluminum finned valve
covers, correct chrome air cleaner setup, power steering and
brakes, chrome alternator, red performance spark plug wires, and
most stock Pontiac appointments sitting in a clean and detailed
engine compartment.
Interior
The interior in ours has a lot of originality and the twin front
bucket seats are done in the factory black vinyl with the door
panels and the rear seat matching. It has power steering and
brakes, pushbutton radio, great wood in the dash, black wrapped
steering wheel, 4-speed chrome shifter and black shifter ball on
top, accessory gauges below the dash, and black carpeting with red
GTO floor mats.
Exterior
Our GTO looks great with the bright and shiny red paint on the body
with the Pontiac's characteristic vertically stacked quad
headlights, the famous hood scoop, egg-crate grille, great body
lines, GTO badging, chrome front and rear bumpers, chrome trim and
great glass with the vent wings too.
It looks and has the right stance too as it rides on Pontiac
factory Rallye II wheels and red line tires with a rumbling exhaust
note from the exhaust.
Conclusion
This slick looking red PHS documented restored 1965 Pontiac GTOs
for sale at Adventure Classics is the right GTO for you to buy to
drive and enjoy.
It has all the features of that great Pontiac muscle car icon at a
great price and is a must for any serious collector to have in
their garage.
