This 1960 Jaguar XK150 Fixed-Head Coupe is a strong running,
beautifully restored English import that has been cared for by the
same 2 owners for over 35 years. With its origins dating back to
the late 1920s, the Jaguar name first came about in the fall of
1935 and the company, SS Cars Ltd. ended up changing its name to
Jaguar Cars Ltd. in the years following World War II. In the fall
of 1948, at the Earl's Court Motor Show, Jaguar debuted the first
iteration of its XK line with the XK120. As its name suggests, the
XK120 was said to have a top speed of 120 miles per hour which
would make it the fastest production car in the world at that time.
In October of 1954, Jaguar replaced the XK120 with the XK140
further iterating on the sports car's engineering and style. Then
in the middle of 1957, Jaguar released its final iteration of its
XK-series, the XK150. The new XK150 had a brand new look with a
redesigned exterior silhouette along with additional performance
upgrades and a roomier and more luxurious interior. 1960 marked the
final full year of production for the XK series since production of
the XK150 was halted in the middle of 1961 when the XK-E (E-Type)
Jaguars made their debuts. In total, only 4,101 XK150 fixed-head
coupes were produced by Jaguar in the span of 1957-1960, which
makes this British import a pretty rare piece of automotive
history. This particular XK150 comes to us after its previous two
stewards owned and cared for this car for over a combined 35 years.
Found under the bonnet on this '60 XK150 is a numbers matching
3,442 c.c. Twin Overhead Cam Inline 6 cylinder engine paired with a
set of Twin S.U. sidedraft carburetters that together were said to
create 210 horsepower from the factory. Exhaust exits the dual
overhead cam Jaguar engine via a dual exhaust setup that gives the
car a very nice throaty sound. The 3.4L DOHC Inline 6 is mated to a
4 speed manual transmission that is outfitted with a Laycock
de-Normanville Overdrive unit that makes this British sports car an
absolute blast to drive! With disc brakes in all 4 corners, this
sporty little 1960 Jaguar comes to a stop with ease. This XK150
rides on a set of 6.00-16 bias-ply tires that are wrapped around
chrome wire knock-off wheels that give this Fixed-Head Coupe a
sporty, period-correct look. A pair of chrome outside mirrors are
mounted on top of the fenders further add to the refined appearance
of this British sports car. The exterior of this Jaguar XK150 has
been refinished is a beautiful Pearl Grey, completing the exterior
look of the car. The interior of this '60 Jaguar is absolutely
stunning! The front bucket seats along with the rear seats have
been reupholstered in beautiful Red leather that truly complements,
and is complemented by, the exterior Pearl Grey paint. The Red
leather padded dash with a Burl woodgrain insert, the matching
upholstered door panels and carpeting, and the steering wheel all
appear to be in fantastic condition and in their stock
configuration. The dash is equipped with a Smiths 140 MPH
speedometer, Smiths 6,000 RPM tachometer with integrated clock,
Lucas Amp gauge, Smiths oil pressure and water temperature combo
gauge, and a Smiths petrol gauge. Whether you're adding to your
British motoring collection or you're buying your first classic
car, this 1960 Jaguar XK150 Fixed-Head Coupe would make an
excellent choice. Give us a call today at 763-428-7337!
