Vehicle Description
CPR Classic is delighted to offer this Alan Johnson Racing 1983
Porsche 930 Slant Nose Coupe. This example is finished in Ruby Red
Metallic over a two-tone light gray and belt burgundy interior.
This car has been diligently inspected to confirm that it is indeed
an Alan Johnson example. Tell-tale signs of a Alan Johnson built
example include the following (which this car shows and
retains):
-Steel, ventless front fenders
-No evidence of welding insert panels on front fenders
-Round, popup headlights from the 944
-Single 944 headlight motor, mounted in the center under hood latch
with rods to actuate opening and closing
-Wiring to lighting using factory harnesses
-Shock supports unmodified
-Jack extensions welded to rockers
-Rearmost edge of the quarter panel air intake follows the curve of
the wheel well opening
-Quarter panel intakes measure 4 15/16" inches from the wheel well,
and 2 " inches from the door jamb
-Oil cooler lines enter through-body into the front trunk
compartment
-Extended fresh air inlet pipe in the engine bay with spacer sleeve
added to the manifold. No diverter valve installed
-Period BBS wheels were also installed on many examples at the
factory. The set that this example currently wears we believe to be
the original set that it left the Alan Johnson Racing with.
-The factory wood trim on the dash is not indicative of a Slant
Nose necessarily but is an option we have seen on multiple cars
built by the Special Wishes department over the years and adds to
its validity, in our opinion.
This example was originally built for the European market and was
ultimately imported to the United States and federalized. During
the federalization process, the car's markers were changed to US
specifications, and the gauges were changed to meet US standards.
The car shows just over 30,000 original miles which we believe is
correct, however, the true original mileage is unknown as the
gauges were changed upon import.
This example has spent many years in the United States and was
sourced by CPR from an owner in Florida. Upon arrival at CPR, the
car underwent a detailed inspection and service that included all
fluids, new wheel studs, and the re-installation of the original
wheels. (The car arrived on another set of wheels with the
originals included.) The BBS wheels were polished and a brand new
set of Pirelli tires were installed.
The car remains stock outside of a stainless exhaust that was added
and a conversion to an Electromotive ignition from a standard
distributor. It runs outstanding and starts well both hot and cold,
makes excellent boost, and is an all-around joy to drive.
Cosmetically, this example is in very nice condition with minimal
blemishes to the front bumper and hood. The interior is in lovely
condition with the only notable blemish being the stretching on the
driver seat bolsters.
