This restored 1965 Plymouth Sport Fury convertible is a rare find.
These full-sized convertibles were very popular, but few are on the
market today, even fewer in this restored (2006) condition. The
standard engine of the '65 Sport Fury was the 318ci motor, but this
Fury is powered by Chrysler's Commando 383ci 'B-Wedge' that was
rated at 325bhp. It is said to be the original numbers-matching
engine that was rebuilt in 2006. The 383 appears to be in stock
form and is equipped with a 4-barrel carburetor and upgraded
exhaust system that utilizes original cast-iron manifolds and
custom exhaust w/crossover pipe. It is backed by Chrysler's
TorqueFlite 3-speed automatic transmission. The convertible
received a professional respray of original White and all chrome is
in very good condition. A power-operated convertible top/window is
also in very good condition. Magnum 500 5-spoke wheels (said to be
original) mount Hankook radials. The restored blue vinyl interior
is stunning - upholstery, carpeting, dash and door cards are all
outstanding. There is a full set of factory gauges plus
console-mounted Equus 'ProTach', console shifter and factory radio
(working). Windows are tinted and the air conditioning system is
fully functional. An Owner's Manual is in the glove box. The Fury's
chassis is equipped with power steering and new 4-wheel power drum
brakes. Front suspension is Chrysler's 'Torsion-Aire Ride' torsion
bar design and leaf springs are used in the rear. This is a rare
Plymouth - a full-sized Sport Fury convertible that really runs.
