1968 Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS - Tuxedo Black Rotisserie
Restoration
This '68 Camaro RS/SS is the result of a comprehensive rotisserie
restoration where every single part was replaced, replated, or
refurbished to factory specifications. The restoration was
meticulously focused on the use of factory-correct GM numbered
parts wherever possible - the kind of attention to authenticity
that separates the highest quality restorations from a quick
refresh. Attention was paid to even the smallest of details,
including the correct Norwood, OH firewall stamps, the kind of
touch only knowledgeable Camaro collectors will catch but that
absolutely matters when documenting a serious restoration. The
result is a car that genuinely looks as if it just rolled off the
assembly line in 1968.
Mechanically, this Camaro is an outstanding example throughout. The
engine was completely refreshed, restamped, and reassembled by
Fillmore Machine of Naples - a respected name in the restoration
community - while the original 3-speed automatic transmission
received a complete refresh with the original pan reinstalled to
preserve authenticity.
The exterior is coated in correct A-code Tuxedo Black accented by
crisp white sport striping - one of the most striking factory color
combinations available on the '68 Camaro. All of the gleaming
brightwork demonstrates that absolutely nothing was overlooked
during the restoration process. The car sits on correct 14-inch
rims wrapped in period-perfect Firestone redline tires. Look
closely and you'll find the correct vacuum-operated headlights that
were used only on the 1968 model year - fully restored and
functioning as they should. Exhaust note is provided by the
Concours Exhaust Package from Gardner Exhaust, delivering the
proper sound that any serious '68 deserves.
Inside, matching Black Custom Bucket seats invite you into a fully
restored cockpit. New factory-correct wiring harnesses were
installed throughout, tied into a new factory-correct fuse panel -
exactly the kind of behind-the-scenes work that ensures decades of
reliable operation. All gauges were restored with new boards,
bulbs, and connectors, including the highly desirable working
Tic-Toc-Tach. The radio retains its original faceplate but features
modern Bluetooth functionality - the only non-original concession
in an otherwise period-correct interior.
Every detail demonstrates the time and care invested to produce one
of the nicest '68 Camaros on the market today. The vehicle shows
less than 100 miles added since restoration completion.
