Vehicle Description
1996 Cadillac DeVille Sedan
The name "DeVille" is derived from the French de la ville or de
ville meaning "of the town". In French coach building parlance, a
coupe de ville, from the French couper, (to cut), i.e. shorten or
reduce, was a short four-wheeled closed carriage with an inside
seat for two and an outside seat for the driver and this smaller
vehicle was intended for use in the town or city, (de ville).
This Cadillac up for consignment is a real beauty, is gracing our
Hallowed Halls and is here for your potential driving pleasure.
With a 4.6 Liter Northstar V8, a wonderful smooth ride, luxurious
well appointed interior in leather, and all looking just great in
its 64,441 actual mile form, snap it up before it leaves our
overstuffed confines.
Exterior
Long straight steel panels with nicely minded gaps are all bathed
in Dark Adriatic Blue, which shows with some scuffs, scratches and
the usual wear and tear of stone chips nicking at the finish of
this long and sleek aero design Caddy. A somewhat rounded off
design, and a little larger rear doors than the fronts, allows the
important passengers plenty of private space in back. A shiny egg
crate grille is flanked by molded headlights that wrap around the
front quarters to form the parking and signal lighting. Just below
is a body matching neoprene bumper that has a chromed trimming
running through its upper quarter. This piece runs the entire way
around the car and adds a nice highlight to the Adriatic Blue. The
glass is all beautifully preserved and has some thin tasteful
trimming surrounds providing the perfect backdrop to the dark blue
full cloth roof covering. On back the long trunk deck melts
seamlessly into the tail lighting which is a bit of a tribute to
the Caddy's of the mid 1960's with a thin vertical, now squared off
tail lights. Vented style aluminum 16-inch wheels are wrapped by
thin white wall rubber.
Interior
Opening the big doors the luxury begins with molded plastic panels
in Neutral Shale, (light beige), which forms the pulls, armrests,
and actuator inserts. At the sill is a rounded molded on wood
applique and below uses beige carpeting. On the armrest we note a
plethora of toggles for power windows, power seat adjustment, power
locks, and power mirror adjustments. Inside are large split back,
(with a lowering armrest), wide buckets covered in Neutral Shale
leather which has aged gracefully with some folds but no cracks.
These present with wide stitched tuck and roll inserts and smooth
bolsters. In back when we swing the extra long doors we have full
access to a rear bench with another fold down armrest in the same
pattern as the front buckets. This bench is nice and tall on the
backs and has a comfortable rest at the top for extra head and neck
support. These overstuffed chairs float in a sea of clean beige
carpeting. The dash top has an undulating line which is covered in
Neutral Shale padded vinyl. Underneath is a wood applique panel
that houses the blue LCD speedometer/mileage display in the center
and is surrounded by many push button controls for all the
conveniences. The left dash has a trip computer, and the right a
temp control panel. Below in the center is a digital blue LCD
display AM/FM/Cassette stereo. More Neutral Shale molded plastic
surrounds the wood framing for the radio. Up top is a nice tight
gray felted headliner. A nod to the trunk which is the size of a
NYC apartment and is lined with gray felting.
Drivetrain
Under the hood in a detailed and shiny engine bay, is a 4.6 Liter
V8. It is fed by EFI, and on back to spin the 3.11 front axle is a
4T60E 4-speed automatic transmission. All in reliable non NorthStar
form and producing 275hp.
Undercarriage
An up in the air view gives us a showing of some surface rust on
various bolts that secure the floor pans, and a smidge of patina
all in the midst of a solid gray unibody frame. This flooring and
rockers have avoided any accumulation of surface rust and present
in a rust-free gray finish. Front and rear power ABS disc brakes
are all around. Power rack and pinion steering with all independent
suspension is noted. A clean back end of the exhaust with a new
muffler is present.
Drive-Ability
A smooth riding quick starting car that can provide comfort for 6
even on a long haul. Plenty of gadgets and amenities for you to
play with and that traditional smooth cloud-like Cadillac ride. All
functions are working just fine, and it is truly a comfy cruiser
for driver and passengers to provide happy motoring on a long or
short haul.

luxury car is ready to please its next owners. At your service, and
