public performance, on the roof of Apple Records, first Concorde
test flight is conducted In France, Boeing 747 jumbo jet makes its
debut, Woodstock attracts more than 350,000 rock-n-roll fans,
members of a cult led by Charles Manson murder five people,

first man is landed on the moon on the Apollo 11 mission by the
United States and Neil Armstrong and Edwin 'Buzz' Aldrin became the
first humans to set foot on the Moon.
For consignment, a blast, (literally), from the past in the form of
the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z28. The beneficiary of a frame off
rotisserie restoration approximately 339 miles ago when the
odometer read 62,000 miles. Bathed in a stunningly deep color
change of Hugger Orange and with just about everything correct down
to the period correct Firestone tires. This one is special due to
it having the elusive X77 code and a fully correct numbers
matching, date code correct DZ 302ci V8. That said, here we go!
Exterior
A color change to a near perfect application of Hugger Orange
covers the straight steel slabs on this car, which are all minding
their gaps very well and it's really nicely buffed and has a glass
like presentation with only a few faults upon close inspection.
Also, adorning the exterior are dual wide white painted on racing
stripes, which.... well race up the long cowl induction hood of
this pony car stopping at the front windscreen and continue on the
small rear deck and cool spoiler atop. No rust due to all the metal
being worked then reworked to absolute perfection. As if the body
itself wasn't enough to draw you in, the eggcrate grille up front
with left-set Z/28 emblem and perfect blingy chrome will. Still not
sold? How about the perfectly polished and straightened stainless
trim that adorns the glass and the swooping white pinstripes that
curve up and around each wheel opening and race rearward. For even
more bling, stainless rocker moldings are on and which bridge the
gap between the 15-inch deep dish rally wheels all wrapped up in
nearly new E70-15 Firestone rubber on all 4 corners. A big shout
out to correct spatter paint finished trunk with its plaid liner,
full size spare and bumper jack.
Interior
Complimenting the exterior orange and white stripes, we see a sea
of black nice condition vinyl. This is covering the molded door
panels which are nearly showroom, and the bolsters of the front
buckets which are high back versions with large headrests attached.
In the back is a black 2 plus 2 rear bench just as nice as the
front buckets. Complimenting this beautiful black vinyl are tuck
and roll and buttoned white and black houndstooth inserts which are
absolutely to die for. In the center is a black molded vinyl
console and it sports a chrome trimmed deluxe wood applique insert
which frames the T-handled Hurst floor shifter. Just in front of
the shift lever is a quad of cascading gauges to monitor engine
vitals and gives you a constant heads up reading of said numbers.
The dash is original and has a beautiful rosewood rimmed 3 spoke
steering wheel in front. Peering beyond the wheel are a pair of
deeply sunken gauges with warning lights below and a clock in the
center and down low is more applique stretching across the dash.
Black carpeting in like new condition is on the floors and above is
a tight black vinyl headliner with a working dome light. We are
ready to roll!
Drivetrain
Under the sleek cowl scooped hood is the correct and numbers
matching 302ci V8. For you numbers gurus out there the block
casting number is 39566188 with a casting date of B109 and a
stamping code of V0402DZ along with the partial VIN stamping. Under
the functional cowl induction air cleaner is a Holley #3923289DZ
4-barrel carburetor and a correct Z28 intake manifold, casting
number 3932472. A correct and numbers matching Muncie M20 4-speed
manual transmission is on back, and this pushes power to a BU0402
stamped 12-bolt rear with 3.73 gears. Everything is near flawless
in this beautifully restored engine bay with the Chevrolet Orange
painted block, snazzy polished ribbed valve covers, and a correct
air cleaner housing. All hoses are nice and supple, and everything
else is gleaming and screaming for attention under this hood. The
driver's side head was cracked so it was replaced but all else is
original and factory.
Undercarriage
Not to be outdone by the topside, the underneath which has been
completely restored and finished in black is clean enough to eat
off of. A sturdy black unibody provides the support for the clean
black flooring and rockers. A stock appearing dual exhaust snakes
by all buttoned up independent coil spring suspension on front and
leaf springs on the rear. Drum brakes are on back and discs
upfront, and are power assisted.
Drive-Ability
This car fired up with a mighty roar, and performed much like the
roar at the start. Out on the test track it had wonderful launching
from that first gear, and unlimited acceleration, especially in the
higher rpm's. The Muncie manual and Hurst shifter are snappy and
working perfectly. Braking was solid and not a single frown was
noted during our tenure behind the wheel.
A beautiful restoration indeed, all around a nice X77 coded Camaro
with plenty of time and skill put into the restoration. A color
change on the interior and exterior for the better and less than
400 miles on this total redux. Visit our Hallowed Halls, and be
prepared..."Tranquility base here...the Eagle has landed!"
