Vehicle Description
1996 Suzuki Jimny Wild Wind DOHC Turbo
Magnificent and mysterious legends have been surrounding Mount Fuji
for centuries. Split between Shizuoka and Yamanashi prefecture,
this 3,776-meter active volcano brings in domestic and
international travelers to marvel at its beauty. Mount Fuji is
instantly recognizable with its defined snow-dusted peak and
surrounding lakes, including Lake Yamanakako.
I've got your picture of me and you
You wrote "I love you", I wrote "Me too"
I sit there staring and there's nothing else to do
Oh, it's in color, your exterior is silver
Your seats are blue, and soft as clouds
I often drive you when there's no one else around...The Vapors
(Modified for this description!)
I think I'm turning Japanese, I really think so, with this recent
consignment of a 1996 Suzuki Jimny Wild Wind. A snappy little RHD
vehicle imported to the US and ripe for the cherry blossom picking
in its non verifiable 86,000 kilometer form, with the small but
mighty turbocharged, big wheeled, high clearance ability to take on
Fuji and all its volcanic glory. Read on my honorable
Tomodachis.
Exterior
Cross your legs and assume the Fukurokuju position, take a deep
breath, and relax as we are about to get very wild. This small
niche market 4x4 is all bathed in Mercury Silver Metallic paint
which is in excellent condition. Meanwhile the bumpers, grille,
window surrounds, and mirrors are all in contrasting black. The
front bumper has some extra large round fog lights and on the hood
is an off center scoop. A is a fixed hardtop, so it carries the
ability to protect you in case of a low branch from a cherry
blossom tree collision occurs. This social climber is a real head
turner and is sure to be a hit with Yuppies and DINKS in the burbs.
A large easy access swing tail gate is holding a covered and badged
spare tire, and allows access to the small but spacious rear mini
bed. Some 205/80R16 off road knobbies are wrapping beautifully
preserved 16-inch oversized wide 5 spoke alloy wheels. Throw on
some turquoise sticker door badging, and UWA!
Interior
A swing of the door and... UH OH its the other door, I wanted to
slip inside but I can crawl through! Snappy checkered square
pattern multicolored broadcloth inserts within a black bolstered
bucket seat all wonderfully preserved and very clean condition.
Buckets in front, and wide stuffed together rear bench/buckets are
in back. Durable vinyl and black plastic abound to help keep the
outside dirt and elements at bay and easy to clean. Nice clean
speckled gray indoor/outdoor carpeting is on the floors and center
console is in front. The dash is molded plastic with round white
faced instruments, knobs and pulls and eyeball AC vents. The back
seats fold down so you have plenty of room for your groover, tent,
and campfire wood. The headliner and side coverings are in light
gray and are nearly in perfect condition. I'm rovvin' it (sic).
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Drivetrain
Bang that dora as I see a clean and powerful I-4 cylinder 658cc
DOHC turbocharged 4 popper under the scoped hood. It has EFI and a
3-speed automatic with 5.125 rear axle and of course 4x4
capabilities. All clean and all ready to roll up in a small but
mighty style...Konnichiwa.
Undercarriage
No rust just some road splatter and all black painted solid
framing. The floor pans and rockers are silver and are supported by
a strong black frame. Coil springs are in all 4 corners, and power
disc brakes in front and power drums for the rear. New brakes and a
new suspension are on this mini climber.
Drive-Ability
I hopped in the right side and off to the test track where it has
snappy acceleration, good handling, a solid stance and stability on
a sharp turn. Shifting was smooth and the turbo added some thrill
to my goosey right boot.. All functions are working just
swimmingly.
And now for something completely different, sure to attract the
young and restless social climber, one who has a perchance for the
different, a Suzuki right hand driver from the "land of the rising
sun" ..Arigatou
