In 1963 following the popularity of the C1 corvette the C2 series
was introduced and it was time for a total redesign. Inspiration
was drawn from the 1957 Q Corvette and Bill Mitchell's racing Sting
Ray. These cars had thin long wedge like noses and rear with peaked
fenders. It was quite a unique look and they used the name as well
with this generation being the first to wear the "Sting Ray" name.
This was when we also saw the first introduction of the Corvette
Coupe with its long fastback body. This very nice 1964 Corvette is
a roadster with both a removable hard top and White cloth top. It
has had a repainted in the past in a Silver Blue metallic with a
single, pinstripe flanked, White center stripe. It really looks
good and the stripe runs across the roofline and on the body
underneath so that with the top not in place it still looks right.
The car wears all of its original style trim, emblems, and bumpers
which all have a very nice shine. The glass is all good throughout
with no issues. The original hubcaps with knock off style center
caps are nicely mounted in place and it has Hankook thin white wall
tires.
Mechanical the car just received a complete overhaul where
everything was gone through. Around $10K was invested to have
everything refreshed and/or rebuilt. It has a 350 V8 motor that
runs great and sounds just as good through its dual side pipes. It
has been dressed up with chrome Chevrolet valve covers and a
Chevrolet Racing air cleaner. The carburetor was rebuilt, cooling
system flushed, has a new water pump, new gas tank, etc. The motor
is paired with a 4 speed transmission that shifts smoothly and
makes the car a real blast to cruise around in. All of the
electrical is working throughout with no issues. It has both power
steering and power brakes which all work great. It is also a
factory AC car which is a nice option but that system is the only
thing not working correctly on the car.
The interior is done in Blue and is a unique original order
feature. It is in good shape throughout. The dash has an all stock
appearance and all the gauges, including the clock, work. In front
of the driver sits its original woodgrain 3 spoke steering wheel
which is in good condition.
