Vehicle Description
Disavowed by the factory for years, and unknown even to most Harley
riders, 1977's Confederate Editions are a fascinating footnote in
the history of Harley-Davidson, and maybe the most collectible
Harley ever. Very few people knew of this model, possibly because
it was overshadowed by the XLCR which also made its debut in 1977.
Then there's the politically incorrect elephant in the room. The
real reason this model is so unknown - never appearing in a single
official Harley history, and we suspect, why Harley-Davidson
refused to even acknowledge its existence until just recently.
Rumors have it, it's also a possibility that Harley-Davidson itself
bought up surviving examples to get them off the market. Whatever
the reason may be, this XLT Sportster is one of the rarest
Harley-Davidson's built to date. Only a claimed 15 examples made
their way out of the factory, making this the rarest HD ever. This
restored example is a fine specimen of HD history and heritage and
is perfect for enthusiast or collector.
