1998 BMW 740i M7 CUSTOM for sale! Motorcar Classics is proud to
offer this professionally-built M7, an Ultimate Driving Machine
that BMW never built. Based on a sound example of BMWs 1998
flagship 7-Series sedan, this awesome car has been upgraded with a
E39 M5-sourced 4.9-liter V8 and six-speed manual transmission. The
car is finished in Oxford Green (324) with a Sand Beige leather
interior. The car has a clean Carfax report and shows no sign of
ever having been damaged. The body was refinished in 2019 and
features black Shadowline trim, black side skirts, integrated front
fog lamps, and a tinted glass sunroof. Aftermarket LED projector
headlights are fitted along with a custom M7 trunk badge.
Additional equipment includes ventilated four-wheel disc brakes, 18
M-Parallel wheels, power-adjustable and heated front seats,
dual-zone automatic climate control, a tinted glass power-operated
sunroof, and a six-disc CD changer. The car is fitted with Michelin
Pilot Sport A/S tires, 235/50 front and 255/45 rear. Four-wheel
ventilated disc brakes were standard equipment, and the suspension
was upgraded with Dinan Stage 1 components along with Bilstein
dampers. The 4.9-liter S62 V8 was sourced from a 2001 E39 M5 and
was serviced by a marque expert in 2018 before being installed. It
features variable valve timing and was factory rated at 394
horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. Maintenance work prior to
installation included a replacement intake manifold gasket, a new
crankshaft seal, replacement water pump O-ring seals, a new
accessory drive belt, and a replacement pilot bearing. Technical
specifications aside, this M7 is fully-sorted and a delight to
drive. Behind the wheel it feels like an M5 with the added space
and luxury amenities of the 7-Series sedan. It is a most impressive
creation.
