For Sale: 1972 Chevrolet Camaro SS in Plano, Texas

Vehicle Description

About the car (VIN 1Q87K2N162977)

This is a 1972 Camaro SS showing the Z27 option and restored as a Resto-Mod.   This was a Covid-19 lock down project.  All new parts as noted and pictured. Please review the Build Sheet - Parts List shown in picture to see all components. You can easily search the details of these components.

The car was a complete rotisserie rebuild as a Resto-Mod.  There are NO frame or body modifications.   In that aspect, the Body and Subframes are fundamentally factory stock. All top-quality parts were selected to complete the car.   All bits, pieces, and sundry of many parts needed to complete the car are not listed - there are just way too many of them.  Wilwood 6-piston Front and 4-piston rear disk brakes. Complete Hotchkis Suspension. A new 21-gallon EFI fuel tank with new fuel and brake lines.

ALL Interior Components and Elements are new.  New Dash, Dash Pad, Instrument cluster, console & shifter and interior panels (kick, sail, side panels), carpet, door sill plates, sill plate wire harness guard, package tray, etc.  A new RetroSound 100-watt Radio with additional 400-watt power amplifier and infinity speakers.  The radio features AM/FM turner with 30 presets and USB ports and Bluetooth, wireless streaming from iPhone or Android.

There are over 130 parts (new and original) that were sand blasted, and powder coated (including the subframe, rear axle, radiator support, wheel housing, cross member, headlight housing, mounting bucket, dash supports, etc.).  Basically, everything and anything that is attached or bolted to the body or subframe is powder coated.   There is over 2100 hours of labor to complete the car.

About the Drivetrain

GM LS3 376/480 Connect and Cruise Crate Motor.  This LS3 delivers a stunning 495 horsepower and 473 lb.-ft. of torque. That’s nearly 70 more HP and 65 lb.-ft torque than the LS3 offered in the base Camaro SS and Corvette.  The key to the power boost is the Hot Cam’s 0.525-inch lift on both the intake and exhaust sides, along with 219-degree/228-degree duration specs.

The 4L70e Supermatic Transmission is required to support the additional torque.  This 4-Speed Automatic supports up to 495 lbs.-ft and geared as 3.06 1st, 1.62 2nd, 1.00 3rd and 0.70 Overdrive.  At 80 mph engine runs at about 2200 RPM.  With the 3500-stall converter, the car has the original GM Connect and Cruise tuning.  After you drive it for a while, you will want to have it tuned to your specific driving style.

In addition to the car, you will receive the Original Numbers Matching 5.7 Liter 350 CID rebuilt to output 340 HP/310TQ (on a stand) – versus the original 185 HP.  All original related accessory brackets, pulleys, etc., all powder coated of course.  The original TH350 automatic transmission, starter, power steering gear box, distributor and the 4-barrel Quadrajet Carburetor.

About the Paint

The Paint is from Spies Hecker.  This is a top-quality paint. Color is GM 2021 Corvette Ceramic Matrix Gray.  The buyer will receive about 1/2+ gallon remaining. This color appears white, a pale gray, or a bluish hue depending on the Sun and other Lighting Conditions.  I include a photo taken by Motor Trend Magazine published in the January 2023 issue.

Please Inquire at [email protected].  Include your phone number and I will call you back.
