For Sale: 1960 Ford Galaxie in Dayton, Ohio

Vehicle Description

1960 Ford Sunliner convertible complete original w documentation (Papaw’s car)

It is with a heavy heart that I have decided to re-home my grandfather’s Galaxy convertible to someone with the proper appreciation and resource. He had purchased it new, locally, in 1960. After decades of fun trips, (mostly joyrides to his Tennessee home) he’d given it to me in 2008, 2 years before his passing. I have a copy of his original OH title as well as a clear new one in my name. Included are records/receipts for all professional mechanical work done since then as well as some before. I also have original parts such as wheels/hubcaps, carburetors, etc. pretty much everything down to the 1st keys.

Documented mechanical work consists of full brakes (drum), exhaust, cruise-o-matic 3speed transmission rebuild, engine freshened up and painted the hi-po colors, rear axle bearings/seals, fuel tank and sender, and the suspension all professionally done. I have additional engine parts/labor receipts dating back to 1981. Currently has a Holly 4bbl, aftermarket wheels and electronic ignition kit on the 352 engine.

Very little aesthetically has ever been done with the exception of a couple replacement lenses, mirrors etc. all Dearborn or NOS. The interior is original and shows its age/use. Currently has older custom seat covers and I have new reproduction molded replacement carpet ready to install.

The exterior is original paint (maintained via kerosene wipe down by my grandfather). Coat is thin and the body has some scrapes and dings from 50 yrs in his little garage. It also had Ziebart rust prevention done decades back and at some point he’d attempted to cover some rust spots at the rear fender. The power top is fully functional and intact. Windows need weather seals.

Starts, runs, drives, handles and stops like a dream, however the charging system currently isn’t working (generated 12v) so I just don’t drive more than a few country miles. I have xtra parts for this as well.

Its a solid vehicle that gets tons of attention, but receives far too little of mine. It’s begging, deservedly, for more appreciation and the ad will remain until it’s seen to the proper home. Hagerty and other sources have assisted to determine the list price. I am happy to answer any questions and provide additional pics to serious inquiries.

Thank you!
