Vehicle Description
This is a stunning presenting Silver Shadow Long Wheel Base ("LWB")
sedan finished in Shell grey with a black Everflex vinyl top. It
has a single hand-painted fine line to the waist-rails and hubcap
beauty trim rings finished in interior-matching black. The interior
is finished in the ever so formal black Connolly leather hides with
matching carpets. This combination is very elegant and classic for
an early Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow. The long wheel base ("LWB")
version of the Silver Shadow, easily identified by the small rear
window (opera window) and standard fitment Everflex vinyl top, it
is 4" longer in the rear door. This provides a noticeable increase
in rear passenger space. This is a southern state car owned by
mature gentlemen for many years and everything about it shows utter
pride of ownership and care. The interior of the car finished in
rich black Connolly leather is deliciously elegant. The leather is
entirely original Connolly Vaumol from factory and in beautiful
condition. It displays the right amount of patina that we look for,
yet without a single tear, crack or unsightly blemish. It remains
very supple and without issues. The headliner is in amazing
condition, finished in its original light grey broad cloth wool
still showing its "new" tuft and pile. It displays no stains, marks
nor wear that you will quite often see on Silver Shadows.
Welcomingly, this example has none and can be comfortably described
as perfect. Door panels, dash panel, rear parcel shelf, interior
chrome work, gauges and instruments are all in very fine condition.
The rich light African burl walnut throughout is all original and
presents incredibly nice and near perfect condition. With only the
most minor and insignificant marks in the clear finish, it all
presents wonderfully with its glass-like finish. It is very rare to
see original wood finishes in a Silver Shadow looking this good.
Please take the time to look at the close up photos of the dash -
virtually flawless! And, with the beauty of only the best of burl
walnut, the grain in this Silver Shadow displays a lovely thread of
knots in the grain which blends from rich yellow ochres to those of
light brown. It is truly stunning. The exterior of the car is very
straight and rust free with the underside clean and tidy. The paint
has had some refinishing over the years and is in superb condition.
It is the car's original Shell grey. In some places the paint
appears to be factory original and yet looks wonderful, which is
further testament to its well-maintained history. All chrome and
glass is in superb condition, right down to factory correct Lucas
headlamps fitted. The black Everflex top is original and in fine
condition but for a rather odd mark in the very centre of the roof
where it looks like perhaps something was mounted there but we
cannot determine what. You can see it in a few select photos.
Interestingly, you don't really see it when standing and looking at
the car but if you were to "ladder up", you can. Because the
remainder of the Everflex top is very nice, we don't see any need
to replace. But, by all means, please do enquire if you think it is
something you would like us to do as we have the professional
skills to do so in-house. Even with this blemish, the outside of
the car presents to true Rolls-Royce standards. The trunk carpet is
in good condition, with the correct jack and tools in place. Tyres
are Kumho 225/70-15 whitewalls, with the hubcaps straight and the
stainless steel super shiny. Mechanically the car is in fantastic
shape. Just a look under the hood says everything about its
maintenance and the penchant for originality. It has been
work-shopped by Park-Ward with all the hydraulics/braking system
serviced and working well. The car has been well maintained over
the years with the more typical hydraulic and brake items having
been done. The engine truly purrs and gear-change is smooth and
quiet. The car is very spritely in power which is a goo
