The Ford Racing 351 Windsor V8 churns out a tractable 385
horsepower using a Speed Demon carburetor sitting on a dual plane
aluminum manifold and breathing through an K&N Extreme air
filter. A high torque starter, aluminum pulleys, stainless steel
gas tank, oil cooler, aluminum radiator, dual fan, heater and
defroster are superb finishing touches.
The car has a robust 5-speed Tremec manual transmission with
Lakewood scatter shield. The optional engine and cabin insulation
package reduces heat and vibration felt from the tunnel box and
footbox.
The Ford V8 sends power to the Dana independent rear suspension.
Power Disc 4 Piston Wilwood brakes with power assist provides with
this MKIII with amazing stopping power while the Bilstein coil-over
shocks, as well as upgraded front and rear sway bars maximize the
car's handling.
SP01412 has an elegant Moto Lita wood rim steering wheel and
aircraft style quick release seat buckles. The period correct SC
dash houses Smith instrument gauges, Lucas toggle switches, an amp
gauge and a 180 mph reverse speedometer. The cockpit is swathed
with leather including the steering wheel and the doors are secured
by original style carriage latches; the seats are covered in
sumptuous German leather. All openings, such as engine bay, trunk,
and cockpit are wrapped around the steel subframe for increased
strength and support. The roadster even sports a rare optional
locking glove box. The fully carpeted trunk contains the battery
with a shutoff switch.
The Superformance MKIII is a meticulously engineered and crafted
reproduction of the original, built under license from Carroll
Shelby Licensing Inc. No expense was spared in recreating the
legendary car, ensuring an authentic sports car experience.
