Vehicle Description
This 1968 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Tribute is a custom creation
that takes some iconic lines and gives you the right cruiser
upgrades - like a Bluetooth radio. And a strong V8 under the hood
means this abides by the true Trans Am tradition.
This car is a bit of a fun "What if.." After all, the Trans Am
didn't debut until 1969, so this one can have some fun with
history. For example, the first T/As were white with blue stripes.
So this one gives its take with Victory Red, but the way the silver
stripes are laid out, just like the original Trans Am, you can
instantly see the visual connection. It also gets the style right
with the dual hood scoops, full-width rear spoiler, Rally II
wheels, and a rear panel painted to match the stripes. But while
you know it was made to pay tribute to the 1969 T/A, it also makes
sure never to betray the design lines that make the 1968 car
distinct. You see it in the full-length waistline crease and rear
fender vent trim. Plus, we love the front end. The wide beak that's
distinctly 1968 gives the grille even more space for an aggressive
blackout style. And the way this is color-matched feels like a nod
to the Endura front end that debuted on the 1968 GTO.
The upholstery, carpeting, door panels, headliner, dash, and all
other fundamentals are nice and dark from fresh investment. It's an
unmistakable style where even the courtesy lights are working. You
also get some nice comfort upgrades, like an armrest center
console, cup holders, and a touchscreen infotainment system with an
AM/FM stereo, USB port, and Bluetooth. Once you slip behind the
three-spoke sports steering wheel, you begin to feel the tingle of
performance that this Firebird radiates. The gauges are crisp and
clean AutoMeter units, including a large speedo and tach, and are
set in a cool carbon fiber-style panel. And your right hand is
going to love the B&M Megashifter.
Lift the hood, and you'll see how the smooth and dark inner fenders
funnel your attention to the tidy and shining heart. This one earns
its speedy Trans Am style with an upgraded 350 cubic-inch V8 built
right with aluminum heads, an aluminum intake, and a Holley
four-barrel carburetor. You'll also notice the right supporting
pieces, like the MSD ignition, billet pulley system, and aluminum
radiator with an electric fan. It fires up eagerly, and the
ceramic-coated headers add power and rumble to the dual exhaust.
There's a stout TH400 three-speed automatic transmission that knows
how to handle the power while delivering smooth shifts, and it
feeds into a versatile 3.55 Positraction rear end. Power steering,
brakes, front discs, and wide BF Goodrich T/As make this a good
cruiser.
It was branded with a salvage title. This cool car shows you what
the Trans Am would have been had it debuted a year earlier. So if
you want power and distinction, this is the coupe for you. Call
