Vehicle Description
This 1958 Chevrolet Impala is going to have you singing Beach Boys
tunes. It's a custom build with a big 409 V8...and yes, there are
dual-quads, too! Plus, the restoration includes a fresh interior,
overdrive transmission, and more making this sleek hardtop a
terrific all-around cruiser.
The 1958 Chevy will always be in demand for its single-year
distinct design. Chevrolet just seemed to want to extend every line
they could with the full-width grille, outstretched quad
headlights, full-length trim, and tailfins so long that they
started right behind the doors. And this one takes full advantage
of these lines to have an imposing look. The trim tag tells us this
was born a black car, but that was just the base. The consignor
took his time locating a clean example of this significant year,
and then he gave it a careful restoration concluding in 2013. The
work on the car was about appreciating the classic lines, and at
the same time, paying tribute to the custom car culture it really
helped foster. So the factory Onyx Black paint was swapped for
Black Diamond. So you still get that dark luster, but now there's
more pop in the sunshine thanks to a cool metallic embedded in the
finish. Smoothie wheels and large polished exhaust tips also add to
the shine and custom style.
The restoration made sure the interior is a clean setup that was
made for custom comfort. So the carpeting, headliner, and
upholstery all have a fresh and deep black style. We especially
like the door panels that offer a classic turquoise streak for a
tasteful splash of color. There are other quality vintage details,
right down to the correct rear seat armrest and working dome light.
And we like how there are well-integrated details to make this a
better cruiser, like the USB cable that links you to the satellite
radio stereo. And you have auxiliary readouts and a SunPro tach
done in black so that they blend in under the dash. It all gives
you the right feeling that this hardtop was made for cruising.
The 1958 Chevrolet introduced big block power to the cars. While
the legendary 409 cubic-inch V8 size was still a few years away
when this one was built, we now know the engine bay can accept it
with ease. So that's exactly what was done here for this true
street machine style classic. The upgrade was designed to attract
attention with all those polished pieces radiating from within the
engine bay's smooth and dark inner walls. And The finned Edelbrock
valve covers and air grabber is a terrific vintage touch.
Underneath is a dual set of Edelbrock four-barrel carburetors. In
fact, this is a full Edelbrock upgrade suite that also includes an
Edelbrock intake and Edelbrock heads! This is also supported by the
right pieces, like an MSD ignition and an aluminum radiator.
There's only about 3k miles on the motor build, and so it fires up
and idles nicely with the kind of well-invested and well-respected
feeling. And because the Beach Boys sing about a four-speed 409,
this has it... but in an updated way. You now have a four-speed
automatic transmission. It's stout enough to handle the power, and
it also gives you easy overdrive cruising. Combine that with power
steering, front discs, and a rear sway bar, and you have a coupe
built for far more than just fun between the stoplights.
Complete with the owner's manual, everything from the big block
power to the sleekly dark style makes this Impala a distinct
stunner. So if you like a well-built custom with plenty of
attitude, call today!
