Ready for the trails! This old school Shorty van was converted to a 4 wheel drive by a company called Pathfinder when it was sold new here in Southern California. It has heavy duty 8 lug axles with Explorer brand locking hubs, 16 inch Pro-Comp alloys with 33 inch BFG all terrains, a set of KC Daylighters mounted on a push bar, removable roof rack, custom rear bumper with tow sleeve and custom made spare tire holder that converts to a small table. The outside is straight out of a Mad Max movie with its faded satin black paint. The inside is still like a cargo van with the addition of a rear seat that folds to a bed, a couple of comfortable swivel captain’s chairs up front, tilt steering column, AM/FM stereo system, cold A/C and some added sliding windows with roof vent. My favorite upgrade is the 5.3 Liter fuel injected LS motor backed by a Turbo 350 automatic transmission attached to the original transfer case. This vehicle may not be legal in some states or counties due to emissions and the engine upgrade, so check your local requirements. It’s not perfect but a fun affordable project you could drive while fixing it up and making it your own style.
