Vehicle Description
While the custom Caddy look and value price got you to stop and
look at this 1990 GMC Sierra, take some time to dig a little
deeper. The luxurious interior, useful bed, and upgrade to LS1
power make it the ideal mix where you get to stand out from the
crowd without giving up practicality.
We could call this the Cadillac of pickups. After all, they took
the time to give this a true upper-class makeover. The first
Escalade is a cousin to this generation GMC Sierra, and so the
facia and hood are a good fit with proper proportions. But it gets
even more impressive when you go around the back and see the
upright tail lights that remind us of the classic Caddy cruisers of
a few decades ago. And while the Cadillac style makes this premium,
it really ears its full distinction in its sleekness. The bright
red paint is a quality later application with a nice even shine. It
helps show off the clean style of the upgraded front bumper, curvy
stepside bed, flush-fitting tonneau, and smooth custom tailgate
roll pan combo. This one is dripping with style, right down to the
20-inch chrome alloys. However, if you still want to get down to
real truck work, the clean bed is done with color-matched liner
paint.
The interior is thoughtfully upgraded to continue the feeling like
this is a true Cadillac and a truck pickup. For example, the seat
now has the Caddy wreath and crest logo stitched into the seatback,
but the layout is the same contoured bench with driver armrest that
came in the GMC. The upholstery is upgraded to white vinyl, and
that coordinates nicely with the headliner and custom-covered dash.
Even the door panels were upgraded to a cool pleated white with
extra comfy armrests. And all the billet that's accenting the dash,
vents, switches, and seats looks like they really took the time to
get the details right. We especially like the look of the billet
steering wheel, and it's on a tilt column so that you get a clear
view of the upgraded digital gauge package. A custom cruiser also
means plenty of comfort. This includes power windows, power locks,
an AM/FM/CD stereo, and cold-blowing air conditioning. There's even
a screen already mounted in the dash, and we bet you're just
thinking about installing a modern infotainment center right
there.
Under the hood is a V8 that makes sure you know it's an upgraded
5.7-liter LS1 borrowed from a C5 Corvette. Just like the rest of
the truck, you can see they took the time to give it a terrific
style with plenty of red back and chrome in this tidy setup. The
modern fuel-injected motor fires up readily, and the true dual
exhaust has a nice tune thanks to Magnaflow mufflers. It's a true
cruiser, and so you'll also appreciate the upgrade to a 4L60E
four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. There's also a
tubular A-arm front suspension, power steering, power brakes, and
front discs to make this a fine anytime choice.
