Vehicle Description
This 1969 Jaguar E-Type Series II Roadster is a gorgeous British
import with a wonderfully sporty look and feel. When Jaguar debuted
the XK-E in March of 1961 at the Geneva Motor Show, it marked a
major departure from Jaguar's previous road car designs.
Reminiscent of Jaguar's D-Type racecars of the mid-1950s, the new
XKE was sleeker, shorter, and about 400 pounds lighter than its XC
predecessors. The new aerodynamic body lines helped improve top
line speed of the XKE and gave the Jaguar sports car a gorgeous new
silhouette. In August of 1968, Jaguar introduced its Second Series
XK-E, otherwise known as the E-Type. The new E-Type saw a number of
stylistic revisions. At the nose, the front air intake was made
larger by nearly 70% and now sat behind a new full width bumper.
The headlights were also moved farther ahead and the old glass
covers were removed which increased the throw of the headlights.
Moreover, the size of the parking lights and signal lights were
also enlarged for improved visibility. Down the side of the new
E-Type, marker lights were added as it was a new US safety
requirement by 1969. The interiors on the Series II E-Types were
also updated in a number of ways. The previous generation's toggle
switches were replaced by more futuristic rocker-style switched.
Additionally, the bucket seats were outfitted with adjustable
headrests and seatbelts so as to comply with the new American
safety regulations. In total, approximately 8,630 Series II
roadsters were produced which makes this beauty an unsurprisingly
rare automobile. This particular Jaguar XKE roadster comes to us
from a southern based collector who cared for the car for over 15
years. Under the bonnet on this '69 Jaguar is a numbers matching
4.2 Liter Dual Overhead Cam Inline 6 Cylinder engine paired with a
set of dual 1 barrel carburetors that was said to push out 246
horsepower. The 4.2L Inline 6 is currently mated to a 5 speed
manual transmission that improves the overall driving experience.
Additionally, this '69 XKE comes with its numbers matching 4 speed
manual transmission should the next owner wish to bring the car
back to its stock configuration. Exhaust exits this 1969 E-Type via
a dual exhaust setup that gives the car a nice throaty sound.
Stopping power is provided by 4 wheel disc brakes which makes
bringing this British import much easier to bring to a stop. The
beige cloth convertible top adds to the luxurious look of this
Jaguar Roadster and is manually operated. Riding on a set of
whitewall radial tires mounted on a set of Jaguar wire rims, this
1969 E-Type has a beautiful appearance and even better ride. The
exterior was recently refinished in Primrose Yellow which is just
how this car came back in 1969. The interior on this '69 XKE is
absolutely stunning! The bucket seats have been reupholstered in
Saddle leather and have a truly classy look. The matching Saddle
door panels and center console are in fantastic condition as is the
brand new Biscuit colored carpeting. The black padded dash is
equipped with a 160 MPH speedometer, 6,000 RPM tachometer, battery
gauge, oil pressure gauge, water temperature gauge, and fuel gauge,
along with a clock and upgraded Pioneer AM/FM/CD/Aux entertainment
system. Whether you're adding to your existing collection of
