Vehicle Description
For your consideration, one of the most important early 1960s
American performance muscle cars: A 1963 12 Ford Galaxie 500
Lightweight. Only 211 of these true factory race cars were built in
early '63 with the express purpose of supplying Ford dealer race
teams with the most competitive offerings to date. But, there were
some fortunate retail customers that were able to obtain one of
these rare and mythical beasts for private ownership; This is one
of those cars. Originally purchased from Sauter Motors in Montvale,
NJ. by a Mr. Barry Noel, this car has had only 4 owners, and
retains much of its important originality. All but 5 of these
special "lightweight" Galaxies were finished in Corinthian White
with Red interior. This particular example was painted black by the
original owner-to try and disguise the true nature of this race car
from the local street-racing competitors-but was refinished in the
correct Corinthian White in the early 1970s by the second owner (Al
"Buddy" Roehrer). The third owner stored the car from the early-80s
until it was finally sold to the 4th owners (Gregg Kopkau & Chris
Stewart) almost 30 years later. Greg and Chris had the original,
numbers-matching drivetrain meticulously rebuilt, maintaining an
exceptional level of authenticity. The car has just over 16,000
actual miles on it, and the car retains its original red interior.
In addition to the engine, transmission, and rear-end rebuild, the
car has all of its functional & mechanical parts and systems
refreshed and serviced with the utmost care and focus given to
retaining the car's factory originality. The car is right as rain!
Built 42763, it features a 425hp480 lb-ft. 427ci V8, T-10
BorgWarner aluminum transmission, 4.11 open rear axle,
NHRA-approved aluminum bell housing, Police Interceptor brakes,
fiberglass hood, front fenders, decklid, and inner fender liners,
aluminum front & rear bumpers and brackets, lightweight frame,
Bostrom Thinline bucket seats, and of course, factory-delete of all
non-essential elements (carpet, heater, AM radio, hood springs,
armrests, spare tirejacklug wrench, sound-deadening, interior
lights and rear ashtrays, etc.). A large folder full of
documentation and receipts of the engine rebuilt etc. is included
in the sale. Don't miss this opportunity to own a very rare,
special and exceptional piece of Ford Automotive and American
racing history!
