Vehicle Description
This 1979 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Brougham comes with a trunk
full of awards, and that's for a very good reason. It has an
impressive survivor style everywhere from the velour on the seats
to the V8 under the hood. It makes for a well-documented and
low-mileage luxury cruiser that makes any classic American car fan
excited.
This is an impressive survivor. There's good documentation to
support the belief that the low odometer represents the full actual
mileage. Plus, the way the panels still carry the sharp design
lines reinforces the feeling of less use and exceptional care. The
factory-correct Carmine Red even shows all the right signs of being
the factory application. You can see the right maturity in the
finish and brightwork. It seems right on a car like this where
there's charm in its survivor nature, and so it wears its age with
pride. Overall, there's a nice balance to the style. It's a premium
Brougham model, and the Dark Carmine Red half vinyl roof is the
kind of distinct yet harmonizing style that signaled an upper-class
car in the 1970s. There are also nice chrome bumpers, and with the
polished rockers, it looks like a whole strip of brightwork
encircling the car. So it has plenty of first-class style. But this
one also has a larger V8 option. And that means it likes to have
some sporty style with details like the distinct white pinstriping
and the color-matched Super Stock wheels. It all makes for a
package that stands out for more than just its survivor appeal.
The red interior continues this car's distinction. After all,
muscle cars have a triple black style, but the paint, roof, and
interior here deliver a sophisticated triple-red. Everything
remains in exceptional condition on this three-owner vehicle. So
that plush velour still has the velvet-like touch you remember.
Plus, all the smooth wood-like trim on the dash and doors continues
the premium feel. This can seat up to six, but fold down the front
armrest, and it provides you with individual luxury. And because it
was designed to eat away the miles in comfort, there are great
features like power windows, power locks, cruise control, a tilt
steering column, the factory AM/FM cassette stereo, and provisions
for factory air conditioning (it will need servicing to blow
ideally cold.) You'll be hard-pressed to find anything out of place
on this time capsule, right down to the button-top inserts in the
doors.
All Cutlass Supremes were made to be cruisers, but not all of them
were upgraded to the 305 cubic-inch V8 - one of the largest
available at the time. Not only do we know this was optioned for
this V8 at the factory, but this is also the numbers-matching
powerhouse. It continues to look impressively but well-maintained,
and that's the key to this car's full appeal. It's a Chevy V8,
which means parts availability is quite easy, and thus, you have a
smooth runner that you can confidently take to survivor shows that
are even further away. This four-barrel carburetor setup gives you
a torque-filled powerhouse. Plus, power steering, power brakes,
front discs, and the numbers-matching three-speed automatic
transmission make cruising easy.
An exceptional classic like this also comes with exceptional
paperwork, like the dealer invoice, owner's manual packet, warranty
card, service manuals, and title documentation. This is a terrific
survivor that needs the right caretaker to continue its preserved
legacy. Will it be you? Call today!!!
