Highly documented, #s matching real W-31 with only 32,940 actual
miles! 2 owners most of it's life. It has 2 build sheets, sales
contract, protect-o-plate, Canadian import letter, indisputable GM
of Canada verification and more. 2 friends fell in love with this
car sitting new on the showroom floor. Both applied for credit,
only 1 was approved. He bought the car and owned it until 1988 when
he decided to let his friend that missed out out 18 years earlier
have it. At that time, it had 18,000 miles. In 1992 it was judged
at an Olds Nationals in all original condition and it scored
991/1000 points. The 2nd owner kept it and cherished this car until
2020. We bought it from the 3rd owner.
EXTERIOR: All original metal in amazing shape. No rust, damage,
bubbles, or issues. The original ram air hood has no cracks. The
gaps are square and flush, doors shut with 1 finger. Original 1970
only sport mirrors. Original code 75 Matador Red car. Repainted
only 1 time, it was keyed at a car show 10 years ago. The jambs are
still original look great. I believe the weatherstrips are original
and they are also excellent. It is polished smooth and glossy. The
stripes are painted correctly. All the chrome and trim are still in
great shape. It still has its original Jack Carter dealer emblem on
the trunk. Original glass including the windshield. It still has
all four original T-3 headlights. Included are its original red
steel rims with poverty caps and original Polyglass tires. Now it's
dressed up with chrome 15 inch SS1 wheels and some meaty size white
letter tires.
INTERIOR: All original except the bucket seats were reupholstered,
the original upholstery is included and actually looks great. Door
panels are excellent. The dash area and steering wheel is mint. A
tic-toc-tachometer was added. It has original radio and a rear
defogger. Original carpet and floor mats are still excellent. The
original seatbelts are mint. The headliner, visors are mint, it has
an Olds vanity mirror. It's a very tidy, unabused interior!
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: #s matching original motor has never been out
of this car. Olds squeezed some extra horsepower out of the 350 by
blueprinting the rotating assembly, giving it a hotter cam, newly
designed #6 heads, H.D. valve springs, 10.5:1 compression, a
lightweight aluminum intake, a special calibrated 750 carb and ram
air induction. They were under rated at 325 hp and 360 lbs of
torque. This one is very original, recently the original plug wires
were replaced, and the original carb was rebuilt. The ram air
system is original and complete. It has power steering. Power
brakes were not available because of the hot cam didn't produce
enough vacuum. It's a very clean and complete motor compartment.
The heat riser tube is in place, correct hoses and clamps,
squirters are hooked up, assembly line ink stamps are still on the
firewall, underhood lamp works.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: It's a time capsule, original and complete. The
original red paint under the trunk lid and the jamb is excellent.
It still has original stickers and weatherstrip in excellent shape.
Inside has never been spray painted, it's original paint in mint
shape. It has original felt mat and optional rubber mat. The spare
has an original tire, the jack assembly is complete. The trunk
light works.
UNDERSIDE: It has the ride and handling package which includes
boxed rear control arms, front and rear sway bars. The shocks and
springs were replaced. It has disc brakes in front, e-brake
assembly is hooked up. Dual exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers.
Looking up at the motor it's clean. #s matching trans. Unique to
the W-31 is a special built JO code Turbo 350 automatic. It came
with higher valve body pressure, higher stall speed and a 6 clutch
design. Most W-31s came with 3.42 rear end gears. This one has its
original 3.91 posi with H.D. axles and an aluminum W-27 cover was
added. Rock solid all original floors, braces, rockers etc.
Only 1,352 W-31s were made total. It's rarer than the W-30 of which
3,100 were made. I feel this is one of the best, most desirable
examples in existence. Whether you have a collection or looking for
1 special car, this one will make you very glad you bought it! I
love this car, I'm a fool for letting go of it.
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for
virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant
amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my
professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to
assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are
answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video
that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are
displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car, make an
appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment
there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car,
your admission will be refunded, and you will be given a 1 year
membership.
