1962 Morgan Plus 4 Roadster RHD
Purchased brand new in Katy, TX. this 4 owner, 1 of just 159 made in 1962, car stayed in TX through the early 2000's. In 2015 she moved to Vero Beach, where the current owner purchased her from Delray Motors.
He's owned her for roughly 4 years.
In 2008, the second owner went through her and had an entire nut and bolt restoration done. It took several years. Everything was touched, replaced or rebuilt. The engine was rebuilt. Interestingly enough, most of the work was done at Morgan Motors of New England and southern New England is where she currently resides.
The car was originally Westminster Green but now wears Crimson Red paint.
There were reportedly about 20,000 miles on the car when she was restored, and was sold to the current owner with about 26,000 miles on her. In his ownership, he's added an aftermarket clutch, the driving lights and about 1700 miles.
The paint, on the top and the under side are nearly perfect with possibly 4 small blemishes in her deep red paint, most near the bonnet hinge, they are pointed out in the photos.
The Heritage Certificate from Morgan Motor Company shows the exterior and interiors colors were both green, however, everything is numbers matching. Body and Engine numbers are correct and seen in the photos. The interior was reupholstered in black leather with red piping. The original gauges were cleaned up and reused. In addition to the standard windscreen, there are two small Brooklands race style windscreens that come in handy when the windshield is laid down. The new soft top is stowed behind the seats and includes plastic side curtains.
She starts right up when cold with a little adjustment of the choke and throttle and settles into a low rumbling purr when warmed and at idle. The 1991 CC inline 4 cylinder engine puts out roughly 100 HP and that is more than ample to send this 1900 lb car up to 60 MPH in less than 10 seconds.
She runs and drives wonderfully - There is something about tossing around a small car that sits just 7 inches of the tarmac and along with the torque and hp of the inline 6, moves you easily when you want to accelerate out of a corner.
She does need air cleaners. The current owner has tried to find a set that will fit under the bonnet but can't seem to source them.
Overall this car is a very solid, high rated number 2 car, she can easily win any local show, however, might not take home a trophy at a Morgan concours.
The owner is parting ways with her now as his "better half" has made mention that as his age goes up, he needs to lower the number of cars in his collection. This will be one of the first to go.
Asking price on her a very market correct $35,000
