Vehicle Description
Lot #164-1964 Chevrolet Impala Super Sport "409" This rare beauty
comes to us via the renowned John Darby, owner of "Darco"
Restorations. For those not familiar, John was the former
Competition Director for NASCAR. After leaving the Racing World,
John pursued his passion and lifelong dream of having his own
Automotive Restoration Business. He and his crew have turned out
many amazing award winning restorations and builds throughout the
years, and this Impala is one of their finest. He has restored many
different vehicles, but his specialty and true love are the 1962,63
and 64 Chevrolet Impalas. His knowledge of those cars and primarily
the "409" Engine is staggering and well known Nationwide. This
particular one began life in California, being built in Southgate
CA, and resided out west, as a Tuxedo Black car with the very rare
"805" Code, Silver Interior. The car has been in North Carolina
since 2010 awaiting the restoration that began in early 2021. An
unbelievably detailed Frame Off Rotisserie Restoration was
completed in early 2023, with every part, every nut and bolt being
removed, restored and then reassembled. John says that this SS
still retains over 95% of its original sheet metal. The engine is a
correct Date Coded 409 Cubic Inch 425 Horsepower V-8. Transmission
is a Close-Ratio Muncie 4-Speed that's coupled to a 3:36 Posi-Trac
Rear Differential. The finished product is amazing and must be seen
in person to truly be appreciated. It is truly a work of art. Lots
of hard to find NOS parts and pieces are own this car, even down to
the never used until now NOS Super Sport Hubcaps. We are told there
is a 2-year waiting list to have a full restoration done at John's
shop.....this one is definitely worth the wait. Check all the
blocks on this one guys. She is finer than "so fine"!!!
