For Sale: 1998 Toyota 4Runner in Morgantown, Pennsylvania
What Does SR5 Mean On A Toyota 4Runner?
When you hear or see the Toyota 4Runner SR5, you might think it's
gear-head talk, but each one of these characters in SR5 stands for
something that makes the Toyota 4Runner SR5 Premium and its base
trim an extraordinary ride. Check it what it means below:
• S: This stands for Sport
• R: The R stands for the engine family that's equipped in this
SUV. The RE
• 5: The 5 stands for 5-Speed Transmission
This means you have a vehicle that's more than capable of handling
whatever you throw at it, whether it'd be rugged off-road terrain
or smooth city roads!
When I see this consignment with its snappy graphics all I can
think of is....Buuuuuussssssssch! Head for the mountains! It's
fully equipped to do so with lots of extras, a high stance, roof
lighting, extra HD racks, a front winch, tinted glass and a nicely
preserved custom interior. Grab your groover, tent, and hiking
boots we're goin' on trail hot and high, and looking great while
doing it. Should I pop that top again?...OK
Buuuuuuuusssssssssch!
Exterior
To make sure you get there in onepiece, this truck has been body
lifted 2-inches and has a 3-inch Old Man Emu suspension lift. So
it's a climber, not only on the trail but for this writer to get
the heck in, (Im just old!), so don't mind me. Anyway I digress,
and we can go right to the tires which are 315/75R16's with plenty
of diggum up tread. These are black and silver with a red insert
multiple and bolt KMC XD rims which look pristine. The front of the
truck has a black bumper with a Smittybilt winch. There are
stainless skid plates and some rock sliders to protect the
underside for the inevitable rock that will tend to jump out on you
while in a high altitude trail. Also when at this altitude, be
careful of high altitude barking spiders...YIKES! On the roof is a
light bar, and a Yakima "Quit your bitchin'" roof rack. The windows
and hood top all have smoked visors, the wheel wells are lined in
black plastic, and the body is white base, with some yellow, orange
and red rear and front hood colored graphics. Of course the
mountains Buuuuuuuuuussssssssch! (sorry I had to do it.). A small
black running board aids the climb in, and on the back is a swing
out spare tire. Nice graphics and a serious climber.
Interior
A swing of the doors and I can catch a glimpse of some two toned
brown and tan molded door panels. Brown is plastic and tan is
broadcloth. A panel of power toggles for the power mirrors and
windows resides just in front of the armrest. Inside, seats have
been covered with seat coverings and these show in black with red
piping. The coverings are nice and tight. The back seat has been
covered the same. Up front, the dash is black and brown and is nice
and clean and shiny. A sunroof is within the headliner which is a
tan nice and tight fuzzy broadcloth. The back "BED" storage area is
clean and has plenty of room for your tent and other miscellaneous
gear to make your glamping experience just grand. You can see the
flag graphics in the rear glass easier from the inside and it also
appears in the sunroof. "God bless 'Merica!"
Drivetrain
Within an original but clean engine bay, is a 3.4 Liter DOHC V6
mill. It has EFI and a factory 4-speed automatic transmission with
a 4.10 geared axles. There is a stock exhaust installed and looking
great.
Undercarriage
The area has been nicely preserved with slime black paint, (rattle
can and otherwise), and solid structural framing. Double wishbone
independent front suspension is on with Icon upper control arms and
for the rear simple leaf springs. From under here you can get a
good view of the Icon control arms, and the stainless steel skid
plates, and rock sliders. Power disc brakes are on the front and
power drums on the back.
Drive-Ability
I climbed in and off to the test track which unfortunately can only
offer me the capabilities of normal on road driving. With that, it
starts quickly, runs great and cruises with a low hum of the
knobbies on the highway. It's a truck like ride, and the lift kit
and body lift makes me feel superior to the lesser vehicles I'm
currently, (but not forever), going to share with the meek others.
All functions were working swimmingly.
Lovely graphics and adding to make it a real tough looker and
certainly a very capable climber with all the ground clearance. I'd
suggest taking it to Utah and checking out Elephant Hill if you
want to test its climbing salt. It certainly looks the part and
with the extras adds functionality to this good looker....
Buuu...Ah NEVERMIND! I AM heading for the mountains though...
