Vehicle Description
***1986 Honda Accord LX-i Hatchback*** Introduced in 1986, the 3rd
generation Honda Accord was very different from its 2nd generation
brethren. Possessing much more futuristic and sleek styling that
was right in line with other designs of mid 1980's vintage, the 3rd
gen Accord looks right at home sitting next to iconic 80's sports
cars like the Lamborghini Countach and Pontiac Trans Am. Part of
this is due to the fact that this was the first year the Accord
received pop-up headlights. Arguably one of the most defining
styling features of the 1980's, it gives the '86 Accord a much more
sporty look than the previous two generations. The, 1986 Accord had
a couple different engine options available through the 3rd
generation. This particular Accord is optioned with the 2.0L A20A3
inline 4. The A20A3 was a fuel injected version of the A20A1 and
A20A2 engines respectively and produced a respectable (for the
time) 98bhp at 5500rpm and 102lb-ft of torque at 4500rpm. Another
unique feature of the '86 Accord is that it used double wishbone
front suspension at time where most cars in the compact sector were
still using MacPherson struts. All models were equipped with front
anti-sway bars but the LX-i also received a rear sway bar, making
driving more stable as well as making handing much sharper and less
prone to losing control upon sharp corrections. As far as the
interior goes, this Accord is nothing less than a time capsule.
When sitting inside, it feels as if you have just crawled into a
Time Machine. All gadgets and accessories work as they should. The
radio while not original, fits the time period very well and
doesn't break up the look of the console. There was an aftermarket
sunroof installed. The 4 speed automatic is mated to a floor
mounted shifter that shows a nifty little gear selection on the
gauge cluster. The pop ups work as intended and so do both power
windows. The struts on the hatch also hold it open with no issue.
Overall, this Accord is everything that a collectors car should be.
True to form and ready for its next adventure with a new owner, it
will be sure to get you wherever you need to go. There is a reason
that Honda consistently ranks at the top of reliability charts, and
with having only 114,000 miles on the clock, this Accord has MANY
miles left to trek. Features list: -2.0L A20A3 Naturally Aspirated
