For Sale: 1965 Plymouth Belvedere in Concord, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

STK 3479 1965 Plymouth Belvedere Convertible

This fully restored 1965 Plymouth Belvedere I convertible is a rare example of an early MOPAR performance machine - a classic. It is said that this Belvedere was a factory 383ci/4-speed car - not an extremely rare drivetrain configuration, but certainly not the norm, especially in a ragtop. A full rotisserie restoration was conducted over a 10-year period and it is stunning. It was basically restored to original condition except for serious drivetrain upgrades.

The all-original no-rust body received a professional 2-stage respray of Viper Red and is in outstanding condition. All chrome/stainless pieces are in excellent condition and period correct American Racing alloy wheels mount BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. (The rear wheels are steelies - a great idea based on this drivetrain.) The reupholstered burgundy/black vinyl interior is also in excellent condition. New carpeting was installed and there is a classic factory Hurst Comp+ shifter. The dash houses a full set of factory gauges and the original AM radio (needs TLC). All window glass is tinted and the power convertible top is in excellent condition, but for only one very small tear.

Now for the performance upgrades - the original 383ci B-wedge has been replaced with a 440ci RB-wedge donated by a 1968 MOPAR. Chrysler conservatively rated these motors at 375hp in stock form, and this one is certainly not stock. The wedge was built in 2013 with performance enhancements including an aluminum 'Max-Wedge style' cross-ram 2x4 induction package, dual 500cfm Edelbrock carbs, mild performance cam, MSD Pro-Billet electronic distributor/ignition and Hooker tube headers. This motor was not bored and runs nicely on 93-octane pump gas - it is a very streetable engine. The wedge sits in a spotless engine compartment and has all the nice chrome accessories. There is a dyno-sheet included from Harshman Automotive that shows 404hp/480lb/ft at the flywheel. The beast is backed by a new A-833 4-speed manual transmission that transfers power to an 8-3/4" positraction differential with 3.55:1 gearing. The Belvedere's spotless chassis is equipped with manual steering, manual disc/drum brakes w/dual master cylinder, new fuel tank and free-flowing exhaust. Front suspension is stock MOPAR torsion bar with leaf springs in the rear. This is a rare Plymouth - a serious muscle car convertible and a bona fide classic. The Belvedere defines '60s MOPAR performance at its best. ALL VEHICLES SOLD "AS IS".
