This 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster is a true modern classic.
It's likely the last of the modern supercar era where naturally

This was the debut year of the SLS AMG Roadster version, and it set

the classic 300 SL with a gullwing coupe first and then a

Under the long hood is the 6.2-liter V8 engine. It's a proper
hand-built AMG powerhouse that's rated at 563 hp and 479 lb-ft of
torque right from the factory. That's an impressive figure for a
naturally aspirated engine, and so this one loves to announce its
superiority with a terrific growl right at the startup. The motor
is only part of what makes the SLS AMG so impressive. Mercedes
engineered their ideal sports car with this one where they used
lighter materials and gave it a terrific sense of balance. The V8
is mounted behind the rear axle and the gearbox is in the rear,
which puts the hefty items in ideal places. So when you have the
adjustable suspension in its sportiest setting, this one feels
telepathic no matter if it's a back road or a racetrack. And the
seven-speed automatic transmission is a dual-clutch unit with
lightning-quick shifts from the paddle shifters. We've mentioned
power and growls coming from this car, but also don't forget, it's
a true Mercedes. So good visibility, variable power steering, easy
automatic shifting, four-wheel power disc brakes, and a substantial
ride all contribute to making sure this beastly package also is
quite tame for in-town driving.
