Vehicle Description
As we begin to really start appreciating classic SUVs, this 1990
Isuzu Trooper is a true standout. It's loaded, fun, distinct, and
affordable. And as you dig through the details, you're going to see
a history of solid investments that make this an irresistible
deal.
This Trooper has a well-respected style that you recognize in the
first impression. The glossy red paint showcases the clean
well-pleated lines that make these so memorable. It's not perfect,
but it's quite impressive for an SUV that qualifies for vintage
registration in most states that offer it. And the boxy lines, tall
windows, and premium LS trim with full-length trim and silver/gray
lower section make us think about a Range Rover. We're not
suggesting that anyone is going to mistake your Trooper for a
Rover, but there is a fundamental style that makes them both rugged
and respected.
The premium LS trim is especially appreciated inside. You have
plenty of desirable features like power windows, power locks,
cruise control, and provisions for air conditioning (it will need
servicing to blow cold again.) The stereo was even upgraded to a
modern Bluetooth unit. Four full doors mean the kind of room that
makes it easy to carry plenty of family and friends. And the rear
swings open wide to swallow big cargo items. It all makes for quite
a practical classic. But you can just want this Trooper for the
comfort it gives you. The front bucket seats were recovered in the
early 2000s. And they have nice features like fold-down armrests
and a center console. The driver's seat is a true command position
with a grippy steering wheel, a large speedo/tach display,
auxiliary readouts, and plenty of glass to see all the angles.
Under the hood is a 2.8-liter General Motors-sourced V6. It's a
motor that's known for being hardy, and this even has the advantage
of fuel injection. Plus, this motor was rebuilt by Jasper in 2006,
and as long as the odometer is accurate, it has only gone about 32k
miles since then. We were given a maintenance log that shows good
care in-between the fresh engine and now that includes a new
alternator/ignition (2019), a new radiator (2019), new fuel
injectors (2020), and a new compressor (2020). It makes for quite a
hardy powerhouse and the five-speed manual transmission gives you
proper control over it all. There was even a new Clutch slave and
master cylinder installed in 2018. This is a proper 4x4 with good
ground clearance and a two-speed transfer case. But there's also a
commuter-level quality to the good ride, power steering, power
brakes, and front discs.
The sale comes complete with the owner's manual, maintenance
records, and a new set of KYB shocks. This is a terrific way to
have some classic fun in a capable and comfortable machine. Call
